All Blacks vs Springboks, July 10th 2010

The Springboks were a disgrace to rugby and to South Africa. Smit proved that he is a fat, over-paid piece of ****. Quota players and useless captaincy ruined that game and I don't see the Springboks winning the tri-nations nor the World Cup.
Gurthro Steenkamp proved that he has just been on a lucmky streak. His scrumming was horrifying and general play was poor.

The ABs first penalty was a result of a useless Kirchner kick.

The ABs first try was the result of a useless Januarie kick.

Kieran Read's try was the result of Kirchner and Januarie being equally useless in defence. These two are most of the reason why we lost.

Smit is a useless player and a useless captain. Going for goal when we are twenty points behind shows how stupid his attitude is. He captained the Sharks to scoring the least amount of tries two Super 14's in a row. How can you go for goal when you are 20 points behind? How? He is fat, he can't tackle and he can't scrum and he screwed up our line-out. Doesn't deserve to be in the squad.

Bakkies Botha is a disgrace to the Springbok jersey. I never want to see him in a Springbok jersey ever again. He finds it impossible to not get cards and constantly gives away penalties. He doesn't deserve to make his living from rugby as he is bringing Springok rugby into disrepute.

I mentioned earlier how Januarie is to blame for two tries, and he is also to blame for his all-round uselessness. What does he do? The only reason you people think he isn't bad is because of his skin colour. Wether you admit it or not, because he is of colour, your expectations of him and all the other quota players are so low that when they don't completely ruin everything, you think it's a good game.

Then we've got the slowest back-line in international rugby. Bryan Habana is the only guy with a bit of wheels. Jean de Villiers, despite being a good player, is not fast enough to be a wing.
And Kirchner. The biggest embarrasment to the Springbok jersey. Doesn't deserve to be in the Springboks nor the Bulls. He is a joke of a player and there is not one area of rugby that he is good at. He sucks at absolutely everything he does. He is the worst defender in the team and has never done anything worth mentioning in his entire career.

What should happen:

Steenkamp, Smit, Jannie, Bakkies, Januarie and Kirchner need to be dropped. Jean de Villiers must go back to centre and either van den Heever, Francois Hougaard, Gio Aplon or Lionel Mapoe must go to the wing. Then, Francois Steyn, Riaan Viljoen or Gio Aplon must go to fullback.

Victor Matfield must captain the Springboks as Smit with his stupid attitude is going to get us nowhere, just like he proved with the Sharks.

I'm getting incredibly sick and tired of your obvious slurs against class rugby players.

John Smit is clearly not a fat piece of ****. He is in fact a Springbok and a man with great leadership qualities, as is shown through the former Springbok captaincy and captaincy of the Natal Sharks.
JP Botha is a vital part of the very physical reputation that the Springbok team enjoys. His sheer presence has an enormous toll on the opposition team's psyche. Thus he is an integral part of the Springbok setup.

I'm not going to comment on your blatant racism toward "quota" players because frankly, you are talking ****. There is a reason that your opinions are no longer valued here and that's because they are always laced with a clear contempt for the fellow man.

This felt more like the game in Brisbane last year, almost exactly the same except against the ABs, anyone agree?

Thats a good shout, it does seem similair.

@ Haysie

Whos JP Botha?

Are you kidding me?

Reid ran right through Spies' pisspoor tackle to score his try, as the closest guarddog to the rugby that was tackle to make. But hes not black so clearly it wasn't his fault..
Quota players aren't the reason you lost, the opposition being better at rugby than you is why you lost. The Springboks were utterly outplayed all over the park. It was as close to a rape scene as can legally be screened on public television.

-Steyn confirmed all my thoughts of him today; Great kicker, not a bad passer, not an entirely bad runner, not anywhere near the best 10 in the world.
-Fourie was made to look foolish by Smith, there was no doubt as to who the better 13 was.
-A rusty, rushed back Nonu looked several classes above Olivier.
-Spies was outplayed in the loose by the inexperienced Reid, Mealamu and Thorns tackling masterclass completely negated his running game.
-Burger had a solid outing, did his job very well, as did his opposite in Kaino
-Besides a couple of handling errors, Thorn was amazing. He proved why hes better than Bakkies
-Louw was invisible. The fact that in comparison McCaw was everywhere made this a really bad look for the rookie.
-JDV made a fool of himself by opting for the intercept at every opportunity, leaving gaping overlaps when he missed it.
-Habana was solid without being outstanding, Jane had his number.
-Kirchner didn't have a great game, but didnt do any worse than his white teammates. Did a good job of diffusing the AB kicking game.
-Matfield had a good game as always but didn't dominate like usual, even had his lineout ball stolen by Reid on one occasion.
-Januarie had a poor game, but to single him out as the cause for the loss is ridiculous.

To sum it up, SA showed today that they are not gods gift to rugby. None of them outplayed their opposites, the Springboks just weren't very good.

Great game, was very impressed with the ABs especially Donnely and Read. Pierre Spies proves once again that he is incredibly overated. To steal a joke form Olly,

Pierre Spies - can run 100 metres in 10 seconds, can benchpress 1000 kgs, can jump 2 miles in the air, can't play rugby.

Louw was poor, but in fairness he is a blindside so comparing him to McCaw is probably the wrong thing to do. 7s and 6s are switched in South Africa, 'Membaaa? ;)

Yes i do membaaaa actually, Burger wore 7 tonight..

I only found it out the other day myself!

Is Bakkies an Afrikaans word for something?

Smit unhappy with 'silly' Botha

Springbok captain John Smit cited the yellow card of Bakkies Botha as being one turning point in their four-try loss to New Zealand on Saturday.

The lock was sent to the sin-bin on thirteen minutes by Irish referee Alan Lewis in a Tri-Nations fixture that saw the hosts win 32-12.

South Africa were however, on the back foot for large parts at Eden Park and Smit admitted it was no way to win a match away from home.

"They played a really quick game tonight and you can't really tackle for a full game and expect to win it so we've got to up our tempo," he said, speaking to Sky Sports HD2.

"We didn't really give them much of a contest today but we'll be back."

Regarding the sin-binning of Botha, who is expected to be in trouble for an earlier head-butt on New Zealand scrum-half Jimmy Cowan that went unnoticed, Smit did not hide his displeasure at the slowing-down offence.

"[It was] very silly," he said, before explaining why he thought the Springboks lost out in Auckland.

"Discipline wins and loses you Tests. We've got lots to work on and we certainly didn't arrive today.

"In the past we've been able to put more pressure on them defensively and today we let them slip through. When you get that quick ball it's hard to stop."

Understatement if there ever was.

Yikes, while I'm sure every Kiwi wants destroy SA moral, after several SA members have been less than gracious winners since the last Tri Nations, I'd like to point out that unless we win the Tri Nations, all this could come back to bite us pretty quickly, and it hardly teaches a couple of South African posters a lesson in humility. Maybe being good winners is a nice idea?

I actually thought Rokocoko had his best game in a while, there was one instance where he was just off side, but looked to be rocketing down the side line. To be honest, I'd keep Roks there, but Gear does deserve a spot, maybe just not Rok's spot. There is room for the AB's to have one more specialist winger.

Here we go again, just because Rokocoko doesn't score 10 tries, it suddenly means he has had a terrible game.

He's been playing pretty solidly, and I thought he made some encouraging runs. Very good under the high ball (this I don't get either, because he had a terribly 2008 season under the high ball, suddenly he's bad?) I'd say a solid 6.5/10 for me.

Haters - Get the FURK over it.
