The type of lad who throws up a nazi salute while proudly wearing a poppy.
Whilst comparing someone else for to Adolf Hitler....

I'm glad she had a police escort and she was pretty dignified but that kind of thing worries me.

Yes and no, I know plenty of women in 'high powered' jobs and all talk about how phrases like this have been used by peers and men above them to belittle their contributions within the workplace. Now regardless of whether this a first world problem or not its pretty much a fact that women despite 'equality' and laws to prevent it are not treated the same as men within the workplace or afforded the same opportunities. so yeah when they object to things like this being said maybe we should actually listen to them instead of dismissing them.

That can very much depend on the organisations and sometimes the individual person. There are still dinosaurs out there, but the overall culture has shifted massively and that's for the good.

Mrs OH holds down a fairly senior job. While she encountered some bad behaviours in the very early stages of her career in a different field - females under a certain age were fair game at the Christmas party type stuff - in the 23 years we've been together she's never once hinted at suffering any gender based belittling or prejudice, even before she rose to her current exalted status. She's not a ball breaker, but nor does she see conspiracies or seek to be offended. She just applies common sense, works hard, gets paid fairly for it and seems to be treated in a gender neutral competent colleague kind of way. As it should be.

The company I work for is a pure meritocracy - no glass ceilings in the management or earnings opportunities etc in what was a traditionally male dominated industry. I'm proud of that.

Opportunities should be equal and no-one should suffer on the back of demographics or personal characteristics. But equally the ability to be a total d*ckhead or a bully isn't restricted to white males and bad behaviour should also be called out no matter who it comes from.

In various situations I've muttered stuff under my breath which have involved plenty of asterisks. Genuine question, if Corbyn had been caught mouthing some more outright obscenity say ******* **** at a bloke, would that have been perceived as worse than the casual sexism he's accused of?

I absolutely agree cultural changes are happening (its my belief the adage yourturn Tory as you get older is not because your viewpoint changes but because each generation is more progressive than the last) that doesn't mean we shouldn't recognise problematic phrases and call it out where possible.

Part of the problem recently with the rise of Trump and other more right sensibilities is because it was felt the culture war was won and that things which are considered out of touch or out of date enver really had to be explained anymore to the problems behind it. You could just dismiss it as misogynistic/homophobic/racist and it was felt the majority agreed. what we've discovered is that attitude is wrong and we still have to explain why that is.

To go onto your last point absolutely he would be under less scrutiny although he'd probably be censured for unparliamentary language which may have been a bigger deal. The difference is he used language against a group (women) which in the past have marginalised with language like that. Men historically haven't been although that a different can of worms if we want to talk about toxic masculinity and the concept every bloke has a grade A alpha male or he isn't a man.

It'll be fascinating to see who's behind the Gatwick drones. Probably someone or organisation with a misguided cause, but it's just a really shitty thing to do.

Someone's in for some well deserved time in a small room at Her Majesty's Pleasure.

TBH I'm just glad it's Gatwick, I'm flying into Heathrow Saturday morning after two weeks away from home. I wouldn't be very happy with the person who made me miss Christmas this year.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bunch of kids having a laugh with no real understanding of why/how it got out of control

Nah this kind of **** is always Greenpeace or some other group with an axe to grind. Who somehow think this will endear people to their cause. Like with what happened at London City a few years back.

Sorry, but I just can't get past "Mrs OH". I hope she is unfamiliar with that paticular term of endearment. :D

I like how the people who declare Britain can be a bold, dynamic and independent society able to stand on its own two feet if only we distance ourselves from our neighbours are the very same people who then proceed to tremble in terror at terms like "nebulous" and "stupid woman". Delicate souls.

Corbyn should run with it and start mouthing all sort of stuff; "the Daily Mail is run by cocks", "wrapped his arms in the tackle, my arse" etc

Still, its similar to the whole, is-the-dress-gold saga on two counts. Firstly, I swore he said "people" the first time I saw it, then "woman" when I saw a replay. Secondly, it's utterly irrelevant.

However, the very same people are completely unmoved by accusations that one of their own would call Yvette Cooper a "bitch"
It's almost like it everything to domwith partisanship and nothing at all to domwith principal.

FTR, if that is what he said, he's a bloody idiot

Why can't they just shoot down the bloody drones?

Yeah the worlds best clay shot lives in Sussex and could be there in an hour. Also the military have the ability to jam them but that might jam the planes to.

Yeah, shooting them down with bullets has been ruled out due to fear of stray bullets, but shooting them down with a net to catch them would be better; other ways to bring them down including trained eagles.

Shotgun loads have less range than bullets and would be safe given the large area around the runway. Plus its easier to hit a flying target with a shotgun than a rifle.

I'm no tech expert but surely there should be some kind of law that says drones (and/or the controller) must be fitted with a component that reveals the location of the operator. It can't be that difficult what with GPS and tracking device technology.

It's a matter of time before there is a major air disaster because of some idiot.

Thankfully it's Mrs OH and not Mrs Tighthead which might give the impression that she's not generous when it comes to giving BJs.
