Brexit and NI is making my head hurt.
Sounds like Scotland will demand for the same deal and people saying why can't London have the same deal etc.
This is why i voted remain because there was zero realistic exit plan and no one to lead us through it and i'm not a EU fan.

I might just try and get adopted by a nice Irish family might try my luck for a Dutch family and then I'm sorted or follow through with my swedish or german wife idea.

Mind can't see the DUP going with this anyway.

Better delete your post history on here, then.

ermmmmmmm good point.
Dutch family it is then.

TBH i'm hoping they will go through with the being able to buy a EU passport thing.

Not at liberty to say which way I voted, but I respect the arguments from both sides.

Ultimately, we have to go with what the majority of the UK wish.

My main fear is it may be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire - okay, we've shaken off the EU but then what happens?

Globalisation means the world is smaller and interconnected, and an independent Great Britain does not tie in with that.

Do you think Ireland will ever peacefully be united now or is there too much history now?

Ever is a very long time, but it's hard to even envisage looking at Stormont at the moment. I don't think most moderate people in the north want anything that would rock the boat and bring back the troubles regardless of which way they lean anyway.
What I can see Post Brexit is more economic interdependence and cross border institutions and regulatory bodies between north and south. The North has always been a huge burden for the U.K in terms of defense spending and the disproportionate amount of people working in public service, but I think a common market with us would be good for them and could attract some commerce their way and force cooperation from whoever has power in Stormont. I think the U.K is more than sick of dealing with the North and would probably welcome more coordination with Dublin if Stormont can keep its toys in the pram for five minutes and stop cutting off their nose to spite their face. This mostly requires the DUP finding a hole to die in.

Can someone please explain WTF is going on with Paul Manafort today.

My understanding just has to be wrong.
My understanding is that he's currently accused of treason, and is out on bail. And has thought this the perfect time to co-author editorials alongside a member of Russian Intelligence

Here you go:
http://edition.cnn.com/2017/12/04/politics/manafort-bail-russian-intelligence/index.html
Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was ghostwriting an op-ed while out on bail last month with a Russian who has ties to the Russian intelligence service, Justice Department Special Counsel Robert Muller's team said Monday.
In a new filing Monday afternoon, Mueller's investigators said Manafort was working on an editorial in English as late as last Thursday and that it related to his political work for Ukraine, which factored into his money-laundering and foreign lobbying criminal charges.
The filing asks for the court to revisit a bail agreement Mueller's office and Manafort's lawyers made jointly last week. The court had not yet approved a change to his $10 million unsecured bail and house arrest.

"Even if the ghostwritten op-ed were entirely accurate, fair, and balanced, it would be a violation of this Court's November 8 Order if it had been published," prosecutors wrote. "The editorial clearly was undertaken to influence the public's opinion of defendant Manafort, or else there would be no reason to seek its publication (much less for Manafort and his long-time associate to ghostwrite it in another's name)."

Oh, and...
Trump White House Weighing Plans for Private Spies to Counter "Deep State" Enemies
Because that's what all non-dictators do...
The Trump administration is considering a set of proposals developed by Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a retired CIA officer — with assistance from Oliver North, a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal — to provide CIA Director Mike Pompeo and the White House with a global, private spy network that would circumvent official U.S. intelligence agencies, according to several current and former U.S. intelligence officials and others familiar with the proposals. The sources say the plans have been pitched to the White House as a means of countering "deep state" enemies in the intelligence community seeking to undermine Trump's presidency.

The creation of such a program raises the possibility that the effort would be used to create an intelligence apparatus to justify the Trump administration's political agenda.

"Pompeo can't trust the CIA bureaucracy, so we need to create this thing that reports just directly to him," said a former senior U.S. intelligence official with firsthand knowledge of the proposals, in describing White House discussions. "It is a direct-action arm, totally off the books," this person said, meaning the intelligence collected would not be shared with the rest of the CIA or the larger intelligence community. "The whole point is this is supposed to report to the president and Pompeo directly."

Oliver North, who appears frequently on Trump's favorite TV network, Fox News, was enlisted to help sell the effort to the administration. He was the "ideological leader" brought in to lend credibility, said the former senior intelligence official.

Hmm but what to call such an organisation? Gestapo has a nice ring to it don't you think?

One of the arguments 2nd amendment lovers put forward is that the private citizen must be allowed to own an AR-15 to stop a government going tyrannical.

This being the case why have they not taken to the streets to stop this?
that argument never makes sense

the same people who want to "respect the troops" also want to have machine guns to kill said troops

Trump thinks... "I know. I'll endorse Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. That will get these Hilary lickers off my tail over the Russian nonsense.
Whoops, Apocalypse.

Well, it's starting to look like a stroke of genius for peace in the middle East, as everyone has laid down their arms upon hearing this news
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-42265337
Or not, as the case may be

[CYNIC] Trump's hard-man act, alongside his anti-muslim racism needs Muslim terrorism to continue; and preferably to direct that anger towards the USA. Has he just laid down a marker to win a second term?
I guess we also need to give him credit on ISIS as well. He told us all he had a plan to sort them within 6 months, and now where are they? Okay, so that plan was to let Russia do whatever they liked with impunity, but still... it worked [/CYNIC]

well alabama didn't vote in a pedophile last night so that's good

How significant it that? From what I understand Moore is a proper bible bashing nut job who was supposed to win easy. Does it show Americans are finally kicking back against the evangelical right wing?

Any democrat winning is a huge result.

Thank the blacks for voting sense here. Demographic split here is still terrifying, even if the result was good. Republican turnout wasn't as good as expected from what I heard, whereas I suppose dem voters smelled blood and got out to vote, where they'd normally expect surefire Republican win.
The fact that anyone can spout their Christian values while also supporting pedo scum like Moore is just too ridiculous. Just look at the intellect on his chief campaigner (absolutely priceless death by words here by the CNN anchor)
