Yep, mine is almost universally made up of middle class people who went to my secondary school, and almost entirely left wing.

If I was American I would probably agree given I think it's about 80% of NATO's budget comes from them. And other member's such as Germany want to reduce their contribution further. Definitely a populist ideal and a vote winner. Let's see if it comes to anything

It is most likely that the Americans who starts a war for some reason like oil. So why should the other member countries for something that is always against international laws?

Can anyone explain to me the safety pin thing please.

So why should those countries be in NATO if that is their viewpoint. Why not leave?

Okay sort of get it now.

More of a political statement than actually helping though.

Was thinking they are special pins that go to a charity or something like those bands ages ago.

i think it helps to know that someone is on your side... i know my women friends are terrified (this is gonna sound sexist but they might be a little melodramatic) about having to go get IUDs if they want any form of birth control over the next couple of years and being nice to them helps

i think other groups are pretty scared too (not many minorities in my social circle, my school is almost all white) so the symbol might mean a lot to them

Yeh but wouldn't something abit more obvious work better then, I mean a safety pin is hardly visible, I mean I wouldn't be able to tell if someone is wearing it unless I was up close and personal.

true, my main concern is that a majority of the people wearing them are "look-at-me" activists and not you know, actual activists

I mean they talk about being afraid of trump etc but it's not his supporters who are rioting right now and in one story my republican American friend told me kicking the **** out of an older guy with a trump sticker on his car.
The irony of calling someone a fascist when you're holding protests and starting petitions to overthrow a democratic election is ridiculous.
Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, pretty much every democrat involved with this election has said to get over it.
I think a lot of young democrats don't really know what it's like to have an election go against them as Obama has had eight years, but it's gonna happen numerous times in their lifetime.

Protesting currently a waste of time.
Rioting pathetic.

Protest when he starts implementing stuff nows not the time it'll mean less when it's required. Trump is already trying to dismiss it as professional protesters whipped up by the media...

Just noted Sir Patrick Stewart is now wearing a safety pin. I take back what I said it's a totally cool Idea now ;)

Afghanistan yes? Not Iraq

Yeah - my point being that many European countries have been involved in NATO operations recently, so the idea that they don't want anything do with it is patently not true.

Not saying that rats. But everyone is committed to certain amount of GDP on their defense and most European members don't get near it where the US has been subsiding them for years and given that the biggest threat remains Russia the US are quite rightly asking " why the hell should we keep doing that when you Germany/France/Austria don't want to make good on your commitment. After all the biggest threat is closer to you than us....." it is a fair question

Anyone see the program on BBC last night about the way Amazon treats its multi drop van drivers? Another example of EU employment law failing to protect anyone.

Suggest anyone who shops at amazon and moans about the p&p should watch it.

I just read the article on the BBC but why is it the EU's fault? Serious question.
