A Political Thread pt. 2

No idea. There are three things I am focused on until September.

1.) War in Ukraine & whether EU countries start hitting their 2% requirements. If not, I see the US threats to leave NATO become a reality. Article 5 requires minimum military investments. Trump/Vance are dead set on this. Apparently, it's why they are so upset with Canada because our neighbors spend less than 1.2% on defense.
2.) Supreme Court decisions on a number of issues related to whether the executive branch can control the executive branch.
3.) Tariffs. Either Canada gets to 2% GDP military spending and drops their long-standing tariffs on America, or their precarious economic situation turns into a full-blown recession.

But who wants to invade Canada really?

Can you guys actually decide what you want from Canada? The other day it was fentanyl before that immigration controls.

I don't think you know what you want from them.

You're also heading for recession and inflation because thats what trade wars do.
51st state. Trumps said it enough times

Speaking of that, was there any traction recently about the fake signatures of Biden documents?

How did that pan out I lost track and interest
Apparently it's irrelevant, the president can legally grant a pardon by speech alone. Trump can spout as much as he likes but yet again he's wrong.

I mean, that thinking is optimistic...

Look at careeer politicians in the US, become multimillionaires on a lifetime of 200k per year salaries, think of how easy they could become billionaires with million dollar salaries. The greed won't stop, it would just escalate!
Not to mention all the insider information they get, and the bribes etc

I mean...

Both sides screaming atrocities at the other, they always have. I think people just forget about the **** slinging from decades previous...

In 20 years people will barely remember the Russian prostitute urinating parties labelled to Trump...

What I do find funny, is the evidence based opinions. People screamed that Trump would be a dictator from day 1 in 2016, they were wrong, and now the same people are claiming he will become a dictator now, so it's hard to believe this time will be different after seeing his 1st performance.

American politics really has infected the western world, it's such a shame to see British politicians and voters acting the same way as Dems and Reps.
But he really is going full on dictator mode. Since the supreme court enabled him he has consistently ignored the law.

Has in fact essentially declared himself the final arbiter not just in the US but also worldwide.

He's a megalomaniac styling himself after judge dredd.

Point of order Dredd despite being Judge, Jury and Executioner is a stickler for following the law as written.

He's an authoritarian Nazi but he doesn't change the law on a whim to suit his needs. (Some stories have him wrestle it).

That's why I said styled, but yes I agree.

Oddly enough I watched the Cobain film Dredd only the other day since it's about to leave Amazon.

I didn't say they were the same thing, I asked a question about a subject I didn't bother following...
Well what happened is some of the pardons were done with an autopen, ie a digital signature rather than a hand written one.

They were not fake but it's having autopen signatures on things unique to Biden, it's done quite often and Trump himself used it for some pardons.
