A Political Thread pt. 2

He was placed in custody based on the complaint of a citizen who believed he was the victim of a crime. The incident was investigated, and the man was released without charge. No one infringed upon his free speech, let alone the government
Isnt plain vandalism?

I think sometimes we forget that in this generation even politicians say outlandish things to promote their brand, increase their visibility and build a response.

Let's not pretend politicians are any better than social media influences, they just had access and exposure before social media.

Trump did this exact thing in 2015 with a genius marketing strategy, say 3 things per week that dominates headlines, keep Clinton out of the news, and out of people's mouths on social media, there's no such thing as bad press.

Meanwhile Republicans in Congress are trying to pass a law to make "trump derangement syndrome" a recognised medical condition and are also trying to engage in constitutional convention, which could allow them to rewrite the Constitution.

This hasn't come out of nowhere, this has all been years in planning. They are branding that who oppose these actions as having TDS. This is full on the act of a dictatorship, say you can do whatever you want and anyone who disagrees has a mental illness and can be put in an institution...

No doubt ***** like Chicago will either deny it or find it funny but this is a huge attack on democracy.
I for one think things like this are insane and a giant waster of taxpayer money, just like the Republican from TN who wants to change the constitution to allow Trump to be president again and the one who wants Trump's face on Mt Rushmore. All political grandstanding instead of working on anything of substance

Please see my comment above...

It works, look we on the other side of the world are discussing it

It's fundraising disguised as moral clarity.

In many ways, I wish the US would switch to the Singapore model and start paying bureaucrats and politicians top salaries so we could end this crap.

It has no chance of actually happening but the mere fact they are trying it is ridiculous. As much as people on the right like criticising the Democrats for things, they never did anything like this. When Obama was in power the tea party kept saying he'd refuse to leave office, that he was a dictator, that he'd try to stay for a 3rd term, that people worshipped Obama etc, it was all nonsense. Now you have these things actually getting done with Trump though and the same people who said they were concerned about these when they were making it up about Obama are at best indifferent towards it when Republicans are actually trying to do it.

I mean, that thinking is optimistic...

Look at careeer politicians in the US, become multimillionaires on a lifetime of 200k per year salaries, think of how easy they could become billionaires with million dollar salaries. The greed won't stop, it would just escalate!

Wait, are you claiming Clinton wasn't an Obama surrogate, and Obama didn't have a hand up Bidens skirt?

Wait until big Mike runs for office next time around, Obama will have nothing to do with that also hahahaha

They really did not make it up about Obama when he admitted that he would want to stay in charge as the president but running things from behind the scenes since he could not run again. This coupled with Biden's obvious cognitive issues has led to a lot of the fueling of the idea that Biden really wasn't in charge, he was just a puppet.

Speaking of that, was there any traction recently about the fake signatures of Biden documents?

How did that pan out I lost track and interest

I mean...

Both sides screaming atrocities at the other, they always have. I think people just forget about the **** slinging from decades previous...

In 20 years people will barely remember the Russian prostitute urinating parties labelled to Trump...

What I do find funny, is the evidence based opinions. People screamed that Trump would be a dictator from day 1 in 2016, they were wrong, and now the same people are claiming he will become a dictator now, so it's hard to believe this time will be different after seeing his 1st performance.

American politics really has infected the western world, it's such a shame to see British politicians and voters acting the same way as Dems and Reps.

They really did though, at no point did democrats move to give him a 3rd term and if you're thinking about the interview with Colbert, he was joking about it, taking more about how, once you feel you are experienced, you leave office and is passed over to someone new..

Autopen and fake are not the same thing, the former is used all the time, with Trump himself also using them for pardons...

No idea. There are three things I am focused on until September.

1.) War in Ukraine & whether EU countries start hitting their 2% requirements. If not, I see the US threats to leave NATO become a reality. Article 5 requires minimum military investments. Trump/Vance are dead set on this. Apparently, it's why they are so upset with Canada because our neighbors spend less than 1.2% on defense.
2.) Supreme Court decisions on a number of issues related to whether the executive branch can control the executive branch.
3.) Tariffs. Either Canada gets to 2% GDP military spending and drops their long-standing tariffs on America, or their precarious economic situation turns into a full-blown recession.

Can you guys actually decide what you want from Canada? The other day it was fentanyl before that immigration controls.

I don't think you know what you want from them.

You're also heading for recession and inflation because thats what trade wars do.
