A Political Thread pt. 2

If you believe the Manhattan sham trials, then good luck to you.

There's a reason 1.) his popularity with independents rose after the convictions and 2.) No New Yorker in the history of the city had ever been tried as a felon for the alleged crime.

It was a kangaroo court and thank God a majority of Americans saw right through it.

Now, unfortunately, I can't say the same about your little island. You convict people of crimes for social media posts.

Every single day I wake up grateful to live in a country with free speech and expression.
No we convict people for inciting violence. Pretty sure the States have similar Law's like when you jailed Loren Reed for Facebook posts.

I worked out in Danbury, CT for three weeks that was fun getting drunk in a student bar in my mid 20's in expenses. Also went round a colleagues house for Thanksgiving which was cool.

Holiday to New York

Also listed Providence, RI but I only really saw the hotel and spent a day pottering about Boston.

Have you ever been to the UK or europe?

Been Canada twice and the States once.

To be honest my preference is Canada and im back to Alberta in June.
Lived in Brussels. Worked for a major London based company you would know the name of. Now I work with a German company you would know the name of.

I much prefer Canada 🇨🇦

But I was seriously looking at moving there the past 2.5 years. Business just has been lazy on sorting out an offer for a job and I've kinda given up. I'm veen told people support it in principal multiples times and they want to move me out but nothing happens.

I suspect they don't trust my boss it to leave soon (he's been here 2 years now and he's not really stayed anywhere longer for 12 years) and need me here to replace him if he does.

Again, you get what you pay for.

Curious, who here has visited the US?
was there in January and just booked to go back in Sept, id guess 30 times in total

my experience talking it people (and its backed up by the votes) a little under half were embarrassed so many people would vote in such a vile person.

i found vary few people that took your stance, the majority of the rest took the "i wish there was a getter option, i dont like trump but the Dem have lost their way, i hope we get someone better next time" and the final small but load percent were the loud mad MAGA

one thing ive asked a few times and havent had a good answer. if its just about the policy...why couldnt they find someone who isn;t such a abjectly bad person to say exactly the same policies?....the fact they didn't, and without a good excuse, tells me there is just list section of the american culture that truly likes this guy, which i find sad

So you're saying you're paying to be misinformed and ignorant...?

There are 2 options, you either don't know the extent of Trump's criminal behaviour or you don't care.

Yes I've been to the USA. I was there last year. New York and Boston.
I wouldn't base anything about "real America" from what you see in Boston or New York from a political perspective. The coastal elite cities represent a small percentage of what the average American believes in. It is a very skewed perspective if you are basing anything on it

The fact you call them "sham trials" is telling, but no, it goes way beyond that. You are aware his organisations have been fine for criminal behaviour before right? You are aware he can't hear up a charity want me because of past fraud right? This all predates him being president. With your fantastic shifts of knowledge, you should know this.

No what I was really getting at was stuff like the top secret files he stole and tried to prevent the government getting back. You should be ashamed at the reason given for that case being dropped, that special prosecutors are not constitutional. They are, it's been established multiple times and it wasn't for cannon to overrule the supreme court in that issue.

You are deluded if you think your level of free speech and expression is that much greater.
He did not "steal" top secret files. He was the president, he could and did declassify them, making them not secret any longer. The most he did was violate an administrative policy relating to presidential records. Bit different than Biden who legitimately stole top secret files which he stored in an unsecured garage. He had no right to possess those files and zero ability to declassify them when he took them.

What criminal charges has he ever been charged with before? Based on common sense standards the New York trial was a sham. No one had EVER been charged with the same thing and there was no victim. I'd be curious how many other companies have overvalued a property or business valuation to their advantage? Also don't you find it odd that Leticia James was a visitor to the White House leading up to this case and that a Biden White House lawyer left that prestigious post to go work for a local DA's office when he previous bosses political opponent is the defendant? Again, none of this adds up.

This shows our level of free speech and expression is FAR greater than yours, your country has elevated itself to policing and criminalizing thoughts. As do the German police raids for memes and insults that those prosecutors were so proud of on CBS. Europe likes to talk about freedom and democracy but show that they are much closer to authoritarianism than they admit.

Police doing raids/investigating insults or memes...I would argue you're looking at the extreme cases there which I think many would roll their eyes at on how pathetic it is. It's best not to assume that's being done with every person.
