It's interesting a study says that yet the results on the ground show trans athletes (specifically male to female) vastly outperforming how they should be doing statistically based on how much of the population they make up.

Not really sure how we can say they are at a disadvantage when a tiny subset of an already tiny set of trans male to female athletes are obliterating female records, particularly relating to strength.

It reeks of academia peering through tea-leaves and the entrails of a goat to make the data fit their original hypothesis while ignoring the blatant hard evidence in their face.

Which really does nothing but undermine the scientific method when it comes to other, less clear matters which do require trust in the process. Like why Global Warming really is responsible for the increased frequency of flood events.

As noted previously in the NCAA of 550,000 there only 10 trans athletes. If like the UK 0.5% of people are trans you'd expect 2,750 even if there was parity. To get to 10 means the evidence shows they are vastly underperformed. Sure that 2,750 should decrease for trans females but it isn't going to be 10.

I'll check when I get home but we have cases of trans women beating women's world records and winning women's competitions at a rate that is statistically extremely unlikely given the very small number of trans people

If trans people make up 0.5% of the populace, or 0.25% for male to female, they should statistically be winning about 1/200 of the time in women's sports for there to be no advantage. That's not the case, women's records at various levels are getting absolutely smashed by trans women.

So we aren't even talking about being good enough to compete, we are talking setting the records. That's an even smaller segment of society.

It's the equivalent of having Iceland suddenly competing against Britain and not just beating us but beating our records across the board at all ages too.

No point discussing figures and hyperbole until citations have been provided, checked for obvious bias etc; and whether talking about "bloke in a dress" or someone actually in the process of (or having finished) transitioning.

From my (limited) experience, the moment you start taking hormone therapy to transition, your body goes to pot. Equally, if you start transitioning before going through male puberty, you never have those advantages in the first place.

None of this points towards an epidemic although clearly cycling and weightlifting (sports well known for fair play with zero doping scandals) need to have a hard look at their results. The UCI is.

As noted I'm pro science on this one it looks like peer review is showing no discernable advantage overall but some individual sports may have a particular problem. But the appearance of a problem doesn't mean there is one which is why its good the UCI is looking into it.

I always get suspicious when political leaders crash the markets with daft policies. Most casual traders and pension scheme members will be the losers but there will be a minority of winners who just so happened to dump their holdings at the right time.

I was tempted to dump some of my investments and a month ago. Ultimately though it's essentially my retirement fund and not for trying to guess the markets, so I'll just sit on it until it eventually recovers. My friend got lucky and sold some right at the height of the market.
