Macron interrupts Trump to correct him on European assistance to Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron attempted to correct his US counterpart on the nature of European support for Ukraine during Oval Office talks on Monday, interrupting President Donald Trump as he spoke to note he was misstating the facts.

The extraordinary moment underscored the strained dynamics of Monday's talks. While Trump and Macron otherwise appeared friendly and willing to engage on the future of Ukraine, the talks have been against the backdrop of Trump's sometimes-false statements about the war effort.

"Just so you understand, Europe is loaning the money to Ukraine. They're getting their money back," Trump began as he was preparing to make the case for a new deal to secure Ukraine's mineral revenues as back-payment for American assistance.

Macron reached over to grab Trump's arm to interject.

"No, in fact, to be frank, we paid. We paid 60% of the total effort. It was like the US: loans, guarantees, grants," he said. "We have $230 billion in frozen assets in Europe, Russian assets. But this is not collateral of a loan because it is not our belonging. So they are frozen."

Trump seemed to shrug off the interjection: "If you believe that, it's OK with me. They get their money back, and we don't. But now we do."

Seeing as you've said a woman can only have XX chromosomes, said "man" could be physically identical to what you define as a woman. I assume you believe there are only 2 sexes and so, if they aren't a woman, they must be a man.

It isn't about winning anything nor am I moving goal posts. I was told I am transphobic for saying that I don't believe that a man can pretend to be a woman. With that being said I wonder how many women and men are actually ok with a man "identifying" as a woman in their locker room or the locker room of their daughter.

I think the other stuff around trans people has a nuanced conversation but we have to get on the same page that they exist before either can happen.

No. No one has ever said trans people don't exist. What I was referring to is any discussion gets bogged down into this type of schoolyard pettiness. Hence the mess we're in on numerous subjects.

Sorry been asked by multiple trans friends (both men and women) to speak up for them when these conversations come up. I have asked them many times if as a man if I should.

Because hes correct but that doesn't mean you shouldn't talk about it.

No, they exist as transgender individuals.

But a transgender individual is a person who lives as the opposite to the sex they were assigned at birth and be treated as such (or someone in between). If your saying they can't be the opposite sex due to biology, you are litreally telling them they don't exist. No matter which way you cut it that's how they perceive what your telling them.
