A Political Thread pt. 2

IT specialist on the radio seems convinced it's human error.

To quote Homer Simpson "Where's the any key".

Surely that should trigger another vote for the constituency?
Should, but won't - just like changing PM should, but doesn't trigger a GE.

If she is looking to defect, I'd take that she's been told that she has no hope in the tory leadership contest - which is a good thing, until you realise the only other candidates seem to be Patel and Baddenoch.

Jebus! is Patel the moderate?

They really need to find a way of getting the likes of Stewart, Grieve, Greening, Letwin, and hell, even Hammond, back into the fold.

In Patel/Jenrick V Baendoch. Baendoch is the unity candidate.

By all accounts Barverman killed her chances at popcon and killed her chances of winning the MPs over.

Strictly speaking - to be consistent with the shambles that is representative democracy:

representative switches parties > they've changed from the manifesto they were voted in on > should trigger by-election

By the same yardstick, changing PM shouldn't require a GE if, and only if, the governing party's manifesto doesn't change.

But of course, we all know manifestos might as well be a bunch of flat out lies.

Part of the reason the whole thing is a load of illusionary shite really.

Biden pulls out of the next Presidential election in USA.

Bring back Bernie Sanders.

Wow,
I meant it had to happen but I'm still surprised it has

Feels too late in the game, they're going to have to default to Kamala who (I think?) is pretty unpopular - should've said it a couple of years ago so they could build someone up

This + the failed assassination feels like it's going to be an easy Trump win

The Democrats are behind as is, letting Harris fold into the race won't help things. I think they needs to build momentum through a race for a new candidate. It'll be interesting how it plays out but without a challenger to Harris for her to prove herself against I don't think they've a chance.

Agreed Joe's mistake was getting greedy and wanting a second term a couple of years ago. There's a reason that was his initial intention.
