A Political Thread pt. 2

I was thinking all this talk on age, then people wheel out Bernie and Jeremy.
Things related to age are probabilities, not set facts. You may get an 80 year old who is switched on but the chance that a mentally there 80 year old sliding into being senile over 4 years is vastly higher than for a younger person, so even if they seem fine at the start, there is no guarantee it will end that way. Biden and Trump have both been showing signs of losing their minds to varying degrees for a while and yet they are still being selected. My Gran went from being fully aware, if a bit prone to dozing off, to unable to recognise her own family in under a year.

Yeah it's a horrible thing. It screwed my Grandma as well. Weirdly she recognised me and my son. Yet couldn't recognise my mum and sister. Absolutely cruel disease.

Is criticising Israel now completely off the books?
While there is plenty of public sympathy for Palestine across the globe, Israel is still heavily influential, especially in politics. Also, remember that Labour has spent much of Starmer's reign trying to get rid of the anti-Semitic label. While most sane people know that criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic in itself, many people would try to link the two to create an issue. Easier to apologise and not risk it becoming a bigger issue.

I think most people would understand if he criticised Israel. Peddling conspiracy theories was more the issue here. Can he be trusted to be fair and reasonable whilst spouting something which clearly wasn't.
