A Political Thread pt. 2

The NSPCC wants the Government to accelerate plans to reform the child protection system through greater investment amid "spiralling costs and rising demand" on services.

Not concerning at all

It's great to know that either our PM is completely clueless about how the courts work or is happy to just completely ignore it. They only enforce the law, they don't change it. The reason the rules against the Rwanda plan was because it contravened the law.

Yup enact a policy that contravenes law, change the law.

Don't want to change the law your subject to it.

They don't want the policy to work they never have done this is just culture war red meat.

It's starting to feel like a bit like Theresa May's demise when the far right brought her down. If he can't get enough support from his own MPs then an election will be the only way to break the deadlock. It's what the country needs in order to move on from the Tory pyscho drama.

Braverman is one despicable individual. Even Rees Mogg isn't advocating leaving the ECHR.

In all honesty it probably doesn't matter what they do. It'll be Labours problem to come up with a solution in about a year.

Didn't realise Jenrick had resigned over it.

It's not that newsworthy because he's absolutely useless. He was Secretary of state for housing in the lead up to Grenfell. No doubt he knows his days are numbered before Labour win next year and Braverman has most likely offered him a sweetener (shadow cabinet position) to resign and make life difficult for Sunak.

It is in the context of the Rwanda vote. I agree he's not that important on his own, but whether or not there is another Tory leadership vote could well depend on the support Sunak has over this.

Just **** the Tories to hell with all the damage they are doing and have done to this country. This isn't a case of honest mistakes but outright incompetence, corruption and malice.

I don't really know the ins and out of the Rwanda plan. Is he still saying that it's a law while the courts are saying it's a parliamentary action?
From my basic understanding the Rwanda plan was a ,aw, but just a plan to deal with migrants. However, the courts said it is against the law.

This new bill is meant to make a new law that somehow forces judges to ignore the existing laws. How that happens is anyone's best guess because most people seem to think it won't work. Even if they do make it work, it still wouldn't apply to the ECHR. Apparently, if the Conservatives go any further in disregarding human rights then Rwanda itself will pull out. It's very negative publicity for them because the UK government is basically having to ignore human rights laws to make it work, so what does that say about Rwanda?

Apparently the new deal with Rwanda is costing a further £100m according to the BBC. It's starting to get silly now. Valuable taxpayers' money being squandered in the middle of a cost of living crisis all down to a Tory civil war. An election is badly needed to end this madness.
