A Political Thread pt. 2

I've seem a few Tiktoks tearing into that guy before

"Get a bridging loan, I've got a bridging company" - Oh....that's convenient

How are the rest of the loyal British in Great Britain celebrating the famous Battle of the Boyne in 1690?

Over in Northern Ireland, where the loyal truly are loyal to the British Government (don't mention the NI Protocol / Windsor Framework), we are making big phallic symbols and setting fire to them, allowing the toxic fumes to settle over the crowd

True Britishness is putting the Irish flag, an effigy of the First Minister (designate), and a picture of the Irish Taoiseach on a bonfire setting fire to it (apparently)

Luckily loads of centrist and moderate Unionists have called out these events for what they are. Sectarian hate crimes.

Personally, I celebrate it (closer to the battle site than anyone in British Territories) by enjoying videos of lads falling off the bonfires because they build them far too big to light from the bottom.

Leo Varadker isn't a great Taoiseach but as an Gay Indian-Irish Catholic he's really a gold mine of hate for the orange men, today it's obviously the latter half of the above description that they'll discriminate against but the first half of the description is fair game for the rest of the year.

Not that but his reputation. No wonder he's holed up in a mental hospital.
Although he hasn't broken any laws he's still done some pretty stupid things. Getting photos of a girl young enough to be your granddaughter etc etc is going to have negative consequences to your life especially if you are a public figure. Pretty sure he knew that.

Isn't the issue that it's a 20 year old dude and he's essentially being outed in one of the most embarrassing ways possible.

his actions appear on the weird side of most people's private lives but when someone threatens to expose a 60 year old with 5 kids and a long marriage as a gay man I'd bet their mental health would hit the fan.

Yeah good point

Well it seems like there's at least four of them, not just one.
I do feel for his wife and children.

And now some junior staff, past and present, have accused him of inappropriate behaviour.

How many people watch porn of others much younger than themselves?

Massive complexity I guess were looking for substantiated complaints or in the case of Spacey, Saville etc. just such a weight of accusations that it has to be true.

Hard to see a way back after this, although he's openly said he's had bad mental health issues for years. I guess his reputation may ultimately depend on whether this was a pattern or all took place over a period when he really wasn't well.

Not that it's any of my business as there's no criminal activity, so precisely not in the public interest.

It's illegal to watch porn of anyone under 18 so getting photos of a 17 year old is pretty stupid and something he shouldn't be doing

I'm loathed to defend a scarlet but I do wonder whether this is really news worthy? Nothing illegal has taken place as far as I'm aware and you do have to really question why this has been brought to the public's attention. I question the suns motivations here. A bit like that Jonah Hill stuff on line, my first thought about that woman who leaked his texts was why are you doing this does this really have to be made public or could it have been sorted behind closed doors.

Oh, I can answer the "why has it been brought to peoples' attention now" question.

Johnson still hasn't handed his phone in to the inquiry, the Tory MPs who tried to influence the inquiry have been encouraged to keep doing that, the desire to murder people in small boats trying to cross the channel has been dealt another blow... and there was some bad press about painting over some murals, because that's the real reason why kiddos leave their family behind (if they had any left) and risk their lives to come to a country they can actually make themselves understood - murals!

That George Osborne story has been forgotten about too.

So the Tories have Murdoch and Newscorp in their back pocket and can call on them on when required to wheel out a scandal they've been sitting on for months in order to deflect attention from their shameless law breaking former PM and stick the boot into the BBC while they're at it.

More like Murdoch has the Tories in his back pocket, and will release a story like this at a time when distractions are required, without the tories needing to ask.

How many papers have run with the Covid phone scandal since Monday? It's not made 90% of the front pages including the Guardian i believe. I doubt the Tories and Murdoch have that much control of the print media. Unfortunately scandal sells news papers factual reporting on more pressing matters doesn't. If it was only Murdoch owned press I'd see the conspiracy but in this case i think it's simply s*x sells.

The 'good day to bury bad news' has been a political tactic on both sides for years. The quote coming from Labour on the 9/11 attacks.

I think it's only due to social media that the phone scandal "forgot my password' story is now gaining traction.
