And yet people are still making excuses as per the post a few days ago. We could be living through the collapse of western liberal democracy into autocracy as the USA and UK are swerving further to the far right and the destruction of personal liberties.Yep.
The coronation arrests are just the start. Police can do what they want to us now | George Monbiot
Draconian new powers allow the police to shut down every form of effective protest, writes Guardian columnist George Monbiotwww.theguardian.com
Having said that, Lindsay Hoyle is a feeble speaker afraid to really hold anyone to account. he has no ability to function as speaker.
Over on Cloud Cuckoo land of GB news. Brexiteers are complaining they are not getting the the Brexit they voted for. Ah Diddums:
I also think Brexiteers thought of their Brexit working as an ideal. But the concept can never work in a vacuum. Its worst effects have just been exacerbated by the likes of Covid, the Ukraine war and cost of living crisis, which a hack like Mackenzie doesn't get or is just being deliberately misleading.Problem was everyone who voted Brexit had a different idea of what it would be because of the terrible campaigning and the focus on emotional arguments rather than factual ones. There was no way they were ever going get the Brexit everyone voted for.
*Effective campaigning.terrible campaigning
True, remain campaign in particular was bad. Does change the fact that they stitched up the country for some ideological nonsense that was factually misleading at best, if not lying.*Effective campaigning.
Us remainy people did the terrible campaigning, looking back.
It really wasn't helped that the remain campaign was "led" by Cameron, who had spent all the time leading up to the referendum slagging off the EU, portraying them as unreasonable and unwilling to budge, trying to oppress poor little Britain. On the opposition side, Labour were led by someone who had frequently attacked the EU. It was a perfect storm, both government and opposition were led by people who attacked the EU and nobody in any position of influence was ever speaking out in favour. The British public were fed a barrage of anti-EU nonsense that went unchallenged for a decade at least in the lead up to the referendum.*Effective campaigning.

Train fruit pickers and lorry drivers to cut migration, says Suella Braverman
In a wide-ranging speech, the home secretary argues it is "not racist" to want to control borders.www.bbc.com
"We need more Brits to do these jobs because our policy is to only allow immigration for high skilled jobs."
Yep, that really sells it. Is she that thick that she doesn't realise it's not because people aren't trained but that people don't want to do these jobs. Having said that, the way the government is going I'm sure they'll pass a law to force unemployed people to do these jobs. Maybe those on benefits too if they earn less than 10k.
You would have thought after the devastating earthquake that destroyed buildings built and passed as safe during his tenure and his handling of the aftermath he would have been trounced. In other news, after perfectly free and fair elections in Turkey, the leader who is driving that country into economic oblivion looks set to win again. Nothing suspicious at all.
