A Political Thread pt. 2

Can we call it fascism yet?
Breaking international law in a "specific and limited way" has become breaking international laws in broad and unlimited ways. This is why you can't accept the "specific and limited" because you can be sure it won't stay that way (not that it ever was that anyway). How the **** are we going to become "global Britain" when our major international acts since Brexit have been reneging on agreed deals, breaking international law, threatening peace in Ireland, lying non-stop about our neighbours and now preparing to break international law again?

It seems the Tory idea of global Britain is imperialist Britain, me march around doing whatever we want and **** anyone else.

Genuinely insane I got a 9% pay rise for excellent performance this year which is by far the highest performance based pay rise I've had and its still below inflation. Continuing promotions aside I've never had an above inflation pay rise.

The whole sort of increase in everything is mental.

I saw a mortgage broker yesterday as my 2.15% fixed term deal ends in September.

Best deal I can get is 4.00%+ and my monthly payments go up by 25%

Anyone know why Sunak doesn't just fire Raab?

I can only think Raab has dirt. Its not like he's a impressive cabinet member respected by the profession. He doesn't from what I can tell control a group of loyalists, so what is it?

It's the Tory party, they all have dirt on each other.

Not that it will change anything but Lindell's challenge was accepted to prove the "data" Lindell provided was false and succeeded. An arbitration panel has ruled Lindell must now pay up.

Either the evidence is very light grey, or he is worried about alienating the wing of voters who see the civil service as all raging millennial lefties who are anti Tory.

Also seen people say he should stand by his man like Boris did with Patel.

I think the actual length of time is because they are working out a punishment for Raab that isn't dismissal, or trying to get him to go himself.

Pushed after yesterday when he didn't resign immediately basically a resign or we fire you situation I'm guessing.

Not an "Ill go quietly" statement from Raab...

In terms of Mea Culpa.s it's very much of the "**** you, I did nothing wrong, it's all a leftie witch-hunt" variety.

I particularly like this bit "I called for the inquiry and undertook to resign, if it made any finding of bullying whatsoever. I believe it is important to keep my word." So important is it to "keep my word" that it required 24 hours, a shed-load of external pressure; and almost certainly a direct ultimatum from the PM.

I'd be p@ssed off as well. Based on the low bar being set on Cummings and Patel keeping there jobs. I'd think it's fully acceptable to paint your nuts blue and run around the admiralty building. Worse case a written warning.
