A Political Thread pt. 2

I'd be very surprised. A lot is probably legal, but that doesn't make it right either.
Sorry, so what if the SNP aren't the only ones doing it? That like getting arrested for being a drug dealer then using "I'm not the only one doing" defence.

A senior SNP politician has been arrested, Sturgeon's husband was also arrested, Sturgeon herself resigned unexpectedly (wonder what that was about). Saying "oh I bet the Tories are doing it" is frankly pathetic.

Please read what I've said. I never said it's a defence nor is it right, or that they should stop the investigation. I wondered how many others are at it. This has gone on long enough now just for a comment about politicians in general.

I doubt Fox News cult will lose many viewers because the truth means nothing to the deluded.
Apparently both sides can 'claim victory'. Not sure how much of a victory it is for Fox news as more a victory in damage limitation. They have avoided going to trial and have paid less than half the amount, but it's still a lot of money and from what I've read they also have to admit they told lies. I know it won't matter to their viewers, but overall Fox were the ones in the wrong.

Genuinely insane I got a 9% pay rise for excellent performance this year which is by far the highest performance based pay rise I've had and its still below inflation. Continuing promotions aside I've never had an above inflation pay rise.

Of course not, otherwise firms would lose money. Can't have that.

I honestly don't understand this infinite growth, profit first economics. It's been shown time and time again that it makes profit until the bubble bursts and when it does it bursts big.

Look at train fares as an example. Regardless of how the economy is doing the prices always go up, usually above inflation. It's simply not sustainable.

It's pocket change for Fox.

  1. Don't pay your existing employees inflation beating pay rises
  2. Employees get fed up and go elsewhere for a good pay rise
  3. Spend even more on a new employee to fill the gap than you would have had to pay the original employee plus losing all their knowledge and experience
  4. Rinse and repeat
I can't fathom why companies can't work out they end up spending more if they **** about with people's wages than if they just paid existing staff more. It's like they do everything they can to tempt you to a company but then it's a constant battle once you're actually in.

This is what happened at my previous job - I'd have stayed for less than I moved for, realistically, but they didn't wanna give anyone payrises (none since before COVID)
They hired a replacement on more than I was on and then they quit less than 6months in, so they're in the plop again

It's crazy how short-sighted some companies are
