A Political Thread pt. 2

That all fine with rational people but after Brexit I think we've proven that people aren't rational with the facts put before them.
I'd argue the people who are fully prepared to jump on the with no evidence whatsoever are people who were never going to vote Labour anyway. No point caring about them.

Until evidence is given, this is just red meat for those who already opposed Labour, little more.

Soooo... Sue Gray?

Big tactical mistake from both her and Starmer imo, it just doesn't make any sense.
Thought it was 1st April when I read this. Unbelievable.

Casts judgement questions on both and impartiality on her. It doesn't really matter whether she was straight down the line or not as perceived conflicts of interest / bias can be just as wounding as actual. This episode is not a good look and the Tories will have a field day with it, as Labour would if the boot was on the other foot.

Those are the Tories who backed her to the tilt for her impartiality before the report came out? I means let's not pretend there is any real question to be answered here. Optics is all its about.

It makes sense from Starmers point of view though he's trying to set up a government in waiting. With a cabinet with no experience of governing except Milliband. So bringing in a top civil servant makes sense as she knows how they work and probably how to get things done.

Tories: Oh Sue Gray joining Labour proves it was all a left wing stitch up and calls into question the integrity of the whole report into partygate!
Next day: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64836425

The optics of the Sue Gray thing aren't great but, unless they wish to claim she fabricated evidence, what Johnson did still happened and was still wrong and still illegal...

The way some in the media are taking the story is mental

So the creator of the term "alternative facts" Kelly Anne Conway, serial liar has gone on Fox News (currently looking likely to lose a huge lawsuit for lying) and warned their viewers against other parts of the media lying to them... You really couldn't make it up. What's worrying is how little to no introspection these people or their viewers have, they'll likely listen to this and bleat on about the mainstream media lying to them, completely ignoring who is telling them it and where they are telling them it.

Just how many times can people be taken for fools and prove that assumption correct?

Lol, nice own goal by the competent party.

The Tories have presided over the plan being delayed from 2023 to 2024 and again to 2025 (and ultimately who knows when?). ScotGov have stuck to 2023 and its not their fault the Tories can endlessly delay environmental matters because they are in the pay of big business.

Recycling is not a reserved matter and never has been. There is nothing remotely contentious in not vetoing a bottle return scheme and the schemes of England, Wales and NI will carry variations (e.g. England may not do glass).

Maybe your great source on Twitter could have factored some of that into his calculations in order to understand that the Tories are rampantly undemocratic and anti-devolution, except where it suits them (the silence from the DUP is growing deafening).
