Senate to close - at least Fetterman beat Dr Oz.

HoR looks like going Red.
At the moment its evens it pickups and gains so while the republicans might take the house they aren't going to have the commanding majority some were predicting.

Trump candidates have under performed.

I mean from what I was reading yesterday this hasn't been as bad as it could of been.

What's the benefits of winning one or both of the houses in the US election?

I assume it's due to legislation but can one veto the other?

UK analogy its their House of Commons and Lords

They just elect a separate Prime Minister who has executive privileges but obviously will struggle to get their legislation through if possible.

The USA essentially took a broken British system and somehow made it worse.

Veto override procedure in the House and Senate.

Summary: A bill or joint resolution that has been vetoed by the President can become law if two-thirds of the Members voting in the House and the Senate each agree to pass it over the President's objection. The chambers act sequentially on vetoed measures; the House acts first on House-originated measures (H.R. and H.J. Res.) and the Senate acts first on Senate-originated measures (S. and S.J. Res.). If the first-acting chamber fails to override the veto, the measure dies and the other chamber does not consider it. The House typically considers the question of overriding a presidential veto under the hour rule, with time customarily controlled and allocated by the chair and ranking member of the committee with jurisdiction over the bill. The Senate usually considers the question of overriding a veto under the terms of a unanimous consent agreement.

I just find it staggering how various republicans can be absolutely **** (both in terms of personality and actually achieving nothing) and still get in. People do love voting against their own interests, especially when seen by hatred.

Republicans have no positive contributions to make. Their policy positions are restricting rights, increasing gun ownership and reducing taxes, that's it.

You forgot "demonisation of the other" be that race, gender, sexuality, nationality, people who disagree with you...

Schoolhouse Rock - I'm Just a Bill
a bill needs to pass both passes in order to get passed to the president. In reality you need 60 out of 100 seat in the senate to avoid a filibuster or 61 out of 100 if one the people really isn't playing for your team. The president can refuse to sign but then the houses can overturn that with 66% vote. Also if the GOP gets the HoR they will probably impeach Biden.

They got any specific reason lined up or just think something up on the spot?
last time Greene introduced it it was for "for abuse of power by enabling bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors." Has to do with Hunter. Never got past committee.

Shown Here:
Introduced in House (01/21/2021)
This resolution impeaches President Joseph Robinette Biden for abuse of power by enabling bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Specifically, the resolution sets forth an article of impeachment stating that, in his former role as Vice President, President Biden abused the power of that office through enabling bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors by allowing his son Hunter Biden to influence the domestic policy of a foreign nation and accept benefits from foreign nationals in exchange for favors.

The article states that, by such conduct, President Biden

  • endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of government;
  • threatened the integrity of the democratic system;
  • interfered with the peaceful transition of power;
  • imperiled a coordinate branch of government; and
  • demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security, democracy, and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office.
The article also states that this conduct warrants immediate impeachment, trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

Russia withdraw from Kherson

Risky for us Satanists to believe anything uttered by the Putin regime but seems unlikely they'd say this so publicly and not follow through. Sensational news if it comes to pass as it is essentially Russia giving up any their ambitions on Odessa, Transnistria/Moldova, Kyiv and possibly even the Baltic states (and if, as some suspect, they were thinking of anything in terms of pro-Serb activity in the Balkans, trying to get Romania vs Hungary etc etc). Europe owes Ukraine an enormous debt and better follow through in helping Ukraine regain all of its territory and negotiate a fresh peace regarding (largely unnecessary) safeguards for Russian speakers (not engaged in sedition) in Ukraine to replace the 1993 Budapest agreement where Ukraine surrendered all its nukes (again doing the world a huge favour) in return for securing its borders.

If the lunatics in the US can avoid getting control of one or both houses (with the potential to destroy support for Ukraine and work on the environment) then we may look back on this as the best week of the century for humanity.

Hey, at least the BBC are allowing the B word back into the conversation when discussing hypocrites.

Lord Wolfson even admits it himself, and adds himself to the ever-growing chorus of "This is not the Brexit I voted for"

Yeh now he says it was the Brexit for all. 🤔 Not the 48% who voted no including Scotland and NI. He's spouting the same **** as Tim Martin and Roger Daltrey when they realise "hang on a moment this is **** and is affecting my business.." 😡
