A Political Thread pt. 2

Either the dross from Truss' cabinet or the dross from Johnson's. How is this an improvement? I mean ******* Raab back as deputy PM and justice secretary.

Tories just playing pass the parcel with ministerial appointments the last few years. What an embarrassment. How could you hope to get any proper, cohesive strategies with people ping-ponging between departments, even if they were competent (which they aren't).

It's a joke, ministers should be experts in, or at the very least have some sort of background in, the field that they're now in charge of for the entire country
Not just jobs for the PM's biggest supporters

"You were **** at health? Well why don't you have a go at running money for a bit now"

This is where you look at the Labour team and start thinking who would actually be worse than their counterpart. And the answer is none.

I still think it requires changing I don't think Reeves landed any body blows on Kwarteng. Milliband should be in a more important role. But I don't think anyone is actually worse.

Good to see Sunak all over his brief

Corbyn!
North London!
Brexit!
Law and Order!

All the hits...

A thought, for the mod.s to ponder - given the board (and this thread)'s predominance of British posters and British & NI political news - is it worth splitting off UK politics to a thread of it's own? Leaving this thread to Ukraine, Iran, US etc

Just my 2 pence: Create a new thread "UK politics" thread and I am sure all will follow on from that with Mod (@TRF_Olyy ) can then amend this to "Rest of the World affairs" thread.

kind of torn. It usually isn't an issue it's just that the Conservative party has decided to be an absolute clusterfuck and it's understandably dominating the thread. US politics and other major news has dominated from time to time.

Also I'm aware of Northern Ireland being a shitshow right now but it doesn't appear the news is explaining the news retroactively. Something about the DUP boycotting Stormont?

My only worry about a "rest of the world" political thread is it will just be dominated by American elections/primaries/Trump and stuff like the Ukraine etc will just get ignored

For me... it would depend on what's going on.
I think the likes of Ukraine and Iran would be no less ignored than they in here - I for one, would continue posting about the same amount about them, there'd just be fewer posts getting angry at the tories in between them.
Of course, I can't speak for anyone else.

Has N.Ireland ever not been a shitshow? Another fantastic relic of good ole British colonialism.

They're looking ar what's going on in Westminster and think that direct rule from them is preferable to power share as the minority in a democratically elected government... essentially
