On saturday the 4th of november the South Africans will play the Barbarians. 7 players have been released from the squad.

Victor Matfield, Pierre Spies, Morne Steyn, Deon Stegmann (Blue Bulls), Francois Steyn (Racing Metro), Ruan Pienaar (Ulster), Jean de Villiers (Western Province) won't be a part of the squad.

The squad for the last match will be:

Backs: Gio Aplon, Francois Hougaard, Adi Jacobs, Elton Jantjies, Zane Kirchner, Patrick Lambie, Charl McLeod, Lwazi Mvovo, Odwa Ndungane.

Forwards: Willem Alberts, Bakkies Botha, Keegan Daniel, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Alistair Hargreaves, Ryan Kankowski, Bandise Maku, Tendai Mtawarira, Coenie Oosthuizen, Juan Smith (captain), Adriaan Strauss, CJ van der Linde, Flip van der Merwe.

Looking at the squad I assume this will be the line-up:

15. Gio Aplon
14. Odwa Ndungane
13. Adi Jacobs
12. Patrick Lambie
11. Lwazi Mvovo
10. Elton Jantjies
9. Charl McLeod
8. Keegan Daniel
7. Juan Smith
6. Willem Alberts
5. Alistair Hargreaves
4. Flip van der Merwe
3. Coenie Oosthuizen
2. Bismarck du Plessis
1. Tendai Mtawarira

based on the fact that some players haven't made an appearance yet and are in the squad

Van Zyl added to final squad

Western Province captain Anton van Zyl has been called up by the Barbarians to play against his fellow countrymen in the MasterCard Trophy match against South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday 4 December.
Van Zyl played Super 14 rugby for the Stormers this year and follows in the footsteps of other uncapped South Africans such as J D Moller and W P Nel who have been part of winning Barbarians' teams on big Twickenham occasions in recent years.
Barbarians' commercial director Mike Burton said, "We are always on the lookout for players just beneath what you might call the 'test radar' and it has worked well for us when we beat the Springboks and the All Balcks in the last three years."
The 30-year-old lock joins a host of household names in another star-studded Barbarians' squad, including several All Blacks and Wallabies while Cardiff Blues and Wales' prop John Yapp is another addition.
The team assemble in London over the weekend ahead of a full seven days' build-up under the direction of coach Nick Mallett, assisted by Alan Solomons. The starting line-up and captain will be announced on Tuesday.

I could have sworn Mike Phillips was going to be in the squad. Henson may be, depending on SCD. Not a bad team for the Baa baas.

My Barbarian starting lineup would be -
Salvatore Perugini
Kevin Mealamu (c)
John Yapp
Chris Jack
Quintin Geldenhuys
Rodney So'oialo
Martyn Williams
Colin Bourke
Will Genia
Berrick Barnes
Joe Rokocoko
Ma'a Nonu
Adam Ashley-Cooper
Drew Mitchell
James O'Connor

Neemia Tialata
Stephen Moore
Anton van Zyl
Daniel Braid
Andy Ellis (why would anyone want him?!)
Matt Giteau/Gavin Henson
James O'Connor

Yapp will be desroyed on the tighthead if SA have anyone half decent at loosehead. Good looking team other that that.

Also surely this is being played on the 4th of December, considering it's already the 29th of November....

is this the world iv or just the guys who will get a big crowd

It's the Barbarians...

So it's just an invitational side. It's not a World XV (iv means 4), and it's not all about big names, as there are plenty of players who aren't big name players, although there are plenty of those in there.

I'll give this a miss, I've already watched the Tri-Nations this year. :p

Thought the same,
I thought BaaBaas teams were supposed to be a mix of most countries, not just two?

Well you have to admit that in terms of attacking ability the Wallabies and All Blacks have the most weapons and that's generally what the Baabaas are about... it's only natural that it'd be an overly Australasian outfit.

To be honest though I wish the ABs were playing the Baabaas and we could have got something like a Springbok forward pack with a wallabies backline. That would have been interesting!

Still, with Gitea, Barnes, AAC and Nonu being named in the line up the centre pairing will be interesting to say the least.

11 - 13 seems a little odd!
11. Nonu
12. AAC
13. Mitchell

Why didn't they choose:
11. Mitchell
12. Nonu
13. AAC
Because then they'd all be playing their preferred position :S

Very weird...

Also, why pick O'Connor for fullback when you could have arguably the best fullback in the world right now in Kurtley Beale there instead?

Think that is wrong because on http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,16024_6540431,00.html they have Nonu and AAC in the middle

Should be buckets of tries. Poor Stephen Donald never seems to grab a start

2 Italians, and Irishman and a Welshman. The rest of the squad is put together from All Blacks and Wallabies. This is more a SH XV than a Barbarians team

John Hayes left out Ezequiel but team by nationality is.
10 NZ. 1 Stormer. 6 Aus. 2 Welsh. 2 Italian. 1 Fiji.

Why don't the Baa-Baas play a prop as an inside center?
It would be a truly awesome sight.

Apart from that, the announced team looks really good, and pretty well balanced
