You have beaten the record of using "If". Stop crying and giving us ridiculous excuses, I was able to say too IF the Boks didn't play with 14 players after just 30 seconds, If Brussow, Fourie and Morné had started if if if ... then the game would have completely looked different. It's desirable to be confident and optimist in sports but you'd better be logical (I can't forget your post "lions by 20"). I should remind you that South Africa is the strongest team by far and if you don't admit that, you will do after seeing your little lionesses getting back home with a 3-0 loss. Cheers[/b]
Gosh, where to start?

1. I only used 'if' once. The other two times I was citing a well known saying.
2. Logical? Well ok, we were 12 points up at one point, and would probably have registered more IF'S or buts!

So you reckon IF the Boks started with this team
1 Beast
2 Bis
3 Smit
4 Botha
5 Matfield
6 Brussow
7 Jean Smith
8 Spies
9 Fourie
10 Morne Steyn
11. Habana
12 Jean
13 Jacque Fourie
14 JP
15 Steyn

the lions would win for sure? Well every person you spoke to one would call a Lions win and one would call a Boks victory. Opinions are like assholes everybody has one.

The Lions have been built up in the media and on Sky so much that I am sure the defeat will take a long time to sink in. Don't worry to much Sir.Speedy you guys will get another chance for revenge in 12 years time.

I am ashamed about the Burger thing though. He should have been red-carded. Can't believe he does that within the first 5 minutes of his 50th game. I hope he goes away forever.[/b]
You know I think your the first SA fan in this entire thread to say that :). I swear some of you really believe your team are a bunch of angels.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jer1cho @ Jun 28 2009, 05:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div>
I honestly don't know what to say about some of you guys...[/b]
Its kinda sad really. I can understand it but thems the breaks (literally in some cases). I do feel the Lions were unlucky but maybe as an Irish fan you get used to losing when your not meant to. We have 10 years of conditioning to prepare us for moments like this. Well that and the fact that we've had a good season and can blame this defeat on ........... eh .............. ahhh f*** O'Gara ruined that excuse for us.

On the Injury front, Jenkins and Jones are definately out of the next test, O'Driscoll wont be playing either and Roberts is a serious doubt with his wrist. I'd imagine the coaching staff probably would have rested a few of em anyway, but this makes their mind up. Unfortunately it does highlight the lack of backup talent in the squad but should still be a fun game next week. Nothing to play for so both teams should open up.
[/b][/quote]

You will not find one SA fan that supports Burger on the current charge. Very silly thing to do and dangerous!! He will be dealt with and suspended accordingly, just like Quinlan who missed the tour due to and act of madness and thuggery.

To call Burger dirty until this incident is unfair and unjust as he has never committed an act like this before. Unfortunatley for him he will now always be viewed as a thug and dirty player!! You do the crime you do the time!

I'm willing to admit South Africa are a brilliant side, but on the back of these two games, I can say with the utmost confidence that IF the full strength Lions side came against them again, without any injuries plaguing them throughout the game, the Lions would win.[/b]
Thanks for your williness to admit it, we Boks supporter really need to hear it. ;)

No problem, Stevie. :D

TheBokke: the tour has been built up, sure, but our chances have always been given a kick in the teeth by pundits and journalists alike. It's always been the Lions could win IF so and so does this, and IF so and so has a mare etc ad nauseam.

I don't think many people, if any, expected them to play so well in both tests. Well in the first test, after Vickery went off, I mean.

Just to counter this, i can say something as well. If we didn't have a closet-racist idiot of a coach, and had all of our selections done properly, we would beat the Lions week-in week-out. I'm talking about Brussouw starting, and staying on the field. Both our locks need to stay on. Jacques Fourie and Morne Steyn would be in the starting line-up... I honestly don't think we would lose.

Interesting stat, South Africa 8-30 Lions with Welsh front row.[/b]

Two interesting stats: All Welsh front row 3 loses against the Boks last year, add the 2 Lions game this year it makes 5 losses. Boks 2 Lions 0.

Of course people thought they had a chance to win so did most of you on this forum, hell some are are still claiming IF they had another chance they would win. most NH pundits predicted victory Barnes, Wallace, Morris, Guscott, Stephen Jones and the list goes on. They are a very well managed team with the best players from 4 strong rugby nations. They had 8 weeks together before the first game so there can be no excuses.

The Emerging Boks(not one cap) only had 6 days together before they played the Lions team(full of international players) and drew. The Lions is a very strong team who have played very well the whole tour and that is why they were so tough to beat, you can't compare this tour and the NZ tour as everyone will tell you that was a disaster(thank Sir Clive for that one)

My only complaint is this BIL have acted very arrogantly and have seemed to think they are better than the Boks.Your captain has never even congratulated them once during his aftermatch interviews, all he could talk about was missed chances etc. The only two who have actually come out and said well done Boks is Croft and Shaw.

Past BIL teams have left our shores with the admiration & respect they deserve sadly not the 2009 BIL.

It has been a little hard for some to take their hats off to the South Africans. So they were a little over vigorous at times. Burger was acknowledged as an idiot from both sides. They weren't over the top aggressive all on their own. It's a hell of a lot easier to have respect for a team and fans if they are a little more willing to acknowledge a loss well.

Hello Mr Pot. May I introduce you to Mr Kettle.

In the first test the Boks were far better then the Lions. The final score was flattering to us there I think.

In this test we were unlucky to lose. No doubt about it. Should we all just pretend that the various factors didnt impact on anything? A three point game in which the ref bottled the red card decision and 4 injuries to the key Lions performers swung the entire match. We should just ignore them and say it was all down to the Boks being awesome?

Yes, thats really what I said. I don't get the pot and kettle bit (not sure where being called a hypocrite comes into that post). Do you rachet up the strength of everyones opinion to the ultimate extreme? I never said anywhere that you guys should say "it was all down to the Boks being awesome". Just a few more acknowledgements of how well your opposition played, rather than the 90% bleating, 10% graciousness.

Mind you, other than Jericho, all the bok fans are letting me cop this all the bloody time, so I don't know why I bother.

It's an art-form to be able to make quips as lame as I do! In any case, O'Gara will be the one getting stoned.

Wait? Am i feeding you? o.0[/b]

It's not like anyone will be feeding O'Gara for a while....... ok I have to stop this now!

In all seriousness, he's going to be in for hell when he gets home. The only way it could've been worse is if it'd been the decider of the third test and he was only a couple of days from back in Ireland.

Great test!

Congrats to SA

Lets hope the 3rd test is as good as that!!

I'm Gutted but still proud.

Thats all I'm going to say on the matter.

To be honest it was a thriller and I loved it. I did decide I wanted the lions to win (at the last minute), to make the decider more interesting, but it wasn't to be unfortunately.
