[2025 Six Nations] England vs Scotland - 22/02/25

I don't even know a Scottish person. But I'd kiss one.

Even though they claim my surname is theirs and it's strongly North of Ireland.

They were favourites for the last seven years.

The same cobblers is posted here every year that England would win, purely because the majority of posters favour England.

It's tiresome but understandable, Luke when a player is criticised for saying "we're going to win" . I wouldn't want a player on the pitch who didn't want to and think he's going to win.

Here's my prediction:

I think the game will be won and lost on the pitch. Specifically at the end when they compare each teams' scores.
You're a true sage. What would we do without you 😉

I think England have won one game after a horrible run. I'd argue that performances were probably a bit better than some of the losses might suggest, but whichever way you look at it, Scotland have had a better 12mths. Any fear of Twickenham that might have existed is long gone too.

There isn't much to choose between the two starting XVs in terms of ability and experience. Form in the 6 Nations might just about favour England but a medium term view doesn't.
So you're saying it is a clean 50/50? Why so coy?

No. I'm saying Scotland should be favourites. Not by much, but I don't think it's 50:50.

If you're looking at the two sides in isolation with no context or form taken into consideration, then maybe it's closer to 50:50, but nothing is ever how it might look on paper.

Well I hope the boys today follow the example of the U20s last night. Those young lads destroyed the Scotts; and the sooner we see Tuipulotu in with the big lads the better. That kid is crazy good. Looking forward to today. Expecting good things from England. We need this win to keep stepping forwards and building back to where we should be. A loss here against the last real opposition in the tournament would be hard to recover from.

Bookies odds are heavily based on team stats and data. Betting companies spend a fortune on this. Bets placed by English fans backing their own team won't move the dial that much unless betting companies suspect that the bets are placed based on some significant inside information.

England are favourites based on the fact that they are currently in better form than Scotland, have a better 23 on paper and are at home. Yes Scotland can win but England are rightly favourites for this one.

I'm bored, so decided to do position by position who is better in my opinion.

Genge = Schoeman
LCD > Cherry
Stuart < Fagerson
Itoje > J Gray
Chessum > Gilchrist
Curry > Ritchie
Earl < Darge
Willis = Dempsey

Mitchell > White
F Smith < Russell
Sleightholme < VDM
Slade = Jordan
Lawrence = Jones
Freeman > Rowe
M Smith < Kinghorn

Subs, don't care

The results
England 6
Scotland 5
Tied 4

So that's that. England win

England are favourites based on the fact that they are currently in better form than Scotland
Are we, though?

So much is being made of the France result, ignoring it was such a close game and they left at least three tries out there with terrible hands on the last pass

We'll have to wait and see but I think it's far too early to say England have turned a corner

Whichever side of the coin you're on, 5 of the last 6 iterations have been one score games with the exception being Scotland's 9 point win last year.

Chances are this will be tight again, probably coming down to a moment of inspiration, a mistake or cumulative discipline.

I want England to win, think we should, but am putting precisely no money on it.

I was also basing it on the performance in Dublin. Ireland are the only team we have both played and we played them at home.
England got an LBP away from home and put up a much better fight than we did two weeks ago.
