2022 World Cup - Qatar

I can't believe Qatar are ranked 50th in the fifa rankings and Ecuador 44th, which makes me think FIFA rankings are bunk. Qatar are no better than a pub team.

Qatar play teams predominantly in the middle east and asia. Ecuador play south american teams more regularly.

They were still shite. Don't know if it was nerves but expect them to lose 3-0 in the Group stage.

I think it is but I also think he'll have a follow up message - like when he stormed off a chat show on ITV and it ended up being pre-planned to get press attention for his message

Saw someone on Reddit say he should give the shreds to an artist to create a portrait of David Beckham called "Beckham's Legacy" to then be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to charity - I could see something along those lines happening

It's a no win situation really for players. Yes they (from the Western countries) are well aware of the political backdrop to this tournament. But ultimately they want to play football and have a shot of winning the holy grail of football.

Play and then when they get knocked out and the football finished GTF out of there.
 
Or they could continue to show support for causes they claim to support from the comfort of their multi million pound homes in the UK

How is anyone supposed to take their claims of wanting equality seriously when they fold at the slightest bit of resistance

That's not really true. They would yc the captain and if he didnt remove it they would yc him again. And then whoever fills in. Think of it as a continuous action where the penalty for infringing it is for every time you get spotted.

What should happen is all teams quit. Not buts, no ifs, no excuses. Period. Everyone packs their bags and leaves. And then let's have it stamped in every history book.
They are literally bullying fifa, the fas, the players and the fans. And they are doing it live.

Time for real madrid, barcelona, bayern, juve, river, corinthians, etc to raise their hands and create a separate governing body.
They wanted to host the event? Let em have it. Give em the cup too. Literally, give them the cup and broadcast it in every single news show on the planet. Expose it.


We've all seen our share of people who believe they can do whatever they want because they have money. History has plenty of examples.
But at this level and scale? On this day and age? With the coms we have access to today? While everyone is watching? On the biggest event of the biggest sport?
Not many.

We're a bunch of cowards.
 
I'm not sure it's a case of Qatar bullying FIFA. I think FIFA are just weak and corrupt and are pandering to the hosts who no doubt greased their filthy palms with silver.

If this doesn't precipitate countries like England, Germany, Italy, France, Brazil etc. from getting together and trying to form a breakaway world governing body then nothing will. Not sure I'm in favour of European clubs like Real Madrid running the show globally (the gap between rich and poor will just get bigger) but a new breakaway world governing body is badly needed.

The minimum these countries should be doing is threatening FIFA with a new breakaway body which in turn forces them to reform internally and stop this from happening again. Get a rotating presidency so that Infantino doesn't turn into the next Blatter.

I was thinking of this. What if a team just passed the band around? It would become such a farce fifa would have to step in afterwards and we can't do this.

I think it's unnecessary to expect people to say anything about this but when you do all this puffery about how much it means to you it makes you look weak when you back down because of a YC.

Thought it was poor to pan cameras on Iran's players during the anthem. A tough position to put them in.
 
They should have made an inflatable Harry Kane in full England kit and sat him next to Southgate on the bench wearing the one love armband.
