2022 World Cup - Qatar

Think about it, we lost to a grassless country.

And they even gifted us with an early penalty.

Messi was very disappointing.

Still, puts all the pressure on games v Mexico and Poland.

Not over yet but got to play a whole deal better than that. Still remember when Cameroon and Roger Milla beat Argentina in Italia '90 in the first game and they still managed to get to the final.

Serious question - has anyone been to Doha? Or would you visit the place post WC?

I've been for a around 7 hours, it was only between flights so don't know if we can count it as a visit. Terribly hot, but I'd like to visit it "normally" once. Also, planned before but they didn't guarantee I'd get a full tourist visa there (that time),so decided to postpone for a "better time"

Great save.

edit: having seen it again, i think Robert telegraphed it too much.

I think FIFA knows it's going to have to start stopping the clock. Now that FIFA is trying to make 60 minutes of ball in play happen every game they have use ridiculous stoppage time due to time wasting.

Last two games disappointing. Hopefully France v Australia will be much better.

View from Tim Vickery South American BBC correspondent on Argentina's defeat:

I would add Argentina finished third in the group though back in 1990 and got through by being one of the best third placed teams. No such route in this WC. I think they may have to win both games left to qualify. Spain losing their first match back in 2010 to Switzerland and going all the way to win it probably closer if they do do it.

Saudi Arabia showed what it was like defending With a high line and disrupting their rhythm, denying Messi space to make those cute passes. Let's see if Mexico and Poland do the same. And if they finish second, they are likely to face France (if they finish top) and end up on England's side of the draw (assuming they also finish top).

Definitely makes group C very interesting.
