[2022 Six Nations] Scotland vs England (05/02/22)

Not really a joke as such … Ben Earl is frequently referred to as 'Earls' which isn't his name. No more than that.

Almost as bad as Clive Woodward saying Ferguson instead of Fagerson. Should be stripped of that knighthood.

It wasn't even that, it was Ewels + autocorrect.

Ludlow vs Ludlam was just a brain failure, mentioned him 3 times, got it right once.
My only defence there is alcohol

Yeah I've seen a lot of people blame the subbing of Smith but I don't get it

If Smith had been subbed before his try nobody would of batted an eyelid. I do wonder why EJ did it after when his tail might be up but left Youngs on.

England seemed well on top until scotland were allowed to take a quick linout, after a ball boy catches it then swapped for a dry one and score a try .or have i missed a law change

Jones has no problem throwing in young lads elsewhere in the team so why are England sticking with Youngs? It's weird. They have 2 young lads in the squad with very obvious potential. Surely if rebuild is the imperative blooding someone into a key position is a must.
Yeah I've never understood why Youngs' position in the team seems to be so much more rigid, even sacred, compared to other players? What is so wonderful about him as a scrum-half?

The subs were stupidly used again. No idea why Jones is so poor at this. Taking Smith off was unnecessary and pointless where as we probably needed Nowel before the 80th minute.

I was never happy with that team, needed uni rig at 8, someone else at 6 and the whole backline needed reworking. Youngs doesn't deserve to be on the pitch with how he slows the game down so much.

But Jones won't change and will probably drop Smith before Youngs.

It seems I'm in a minority of one, but I saw nothing from Scotland to suggest they are worth their hype. Their defence was good, but I don't think we really tested it with our one-dimensional attack. Their tries came from moments of opportunism/England completely switching off. They barely threatened otherwise.

Ritchie will be a big loss for them too.

In Cardiff, I'd fancy Wales and I don't see Scotland beating Ireland or France right now so …
Completely agree on Scotland's prospects for the rest, but I think Scotland have become pretty great at creating tries from poor platforms (necessity of a relatively weak pack). Often represented as unnecessary risk but really don't think a more conventional approach would help.

France looking pretty good with a big, direct unit at 12. Wonder if we should try that? <blink>

Good refereeing that, would have been easy to award in normal play.
