[2021 Six Nations] France vs Wales (20/03/2021)

I can't promise anything but I'll do my best. It only takes one though (from either side) to step over the line and there goes the neighbourhood again I'm afraid.

Exactly. It would be a lot better if other countries fans just recognised AWJ as the GOAT, Tipuric as the best open side in world rugby and Wales are a far superior rugby nation to all other nations.

Welsh fans were never exactly fans when they lost against the SH yet again or one of their many **** ups against minor nations in summer/autumn internations. Problem is he'd then get another GS pr 6Nations championship so they'd forgive him.

I have respect for the things that he has done and won with Wales. His tenure was a net positive for Wales. However he's definitely not devoid of valid criticism. As you said his record against SH was down right shocking, last few years made it look a lot better than it was. Attack was too often, non existent, and more about hoping that the other team made a mistake with the ball. His love for 'mind games' sometimes did go a bit too far.

There's definitely a growing rivalry there alright. You can just tell Hogg hates the sight of us! If you managed to beat us at all consistently it'd get very bitter indeed, Ronan O'Gara and Shane Horgan seemed genuinely fearful of a loss on Irish telly this year in a way I'd never seen.

Interesting! I doubt either of them lost many games to Scottish teams (inc Edinburgh/Glasgow) though obviously O'Gara might have good reason to hate us

Who wants to feel angry and miserable? I think this was mentioned in here to be fair. I thought it was harsh but you win some you lose some.

Can't really complain about a borderline decision going against Wales' way considering all the ones that have gone their way. I thought their entire mindset was wrong that last 10 minutes. They were far to willing to give up penalties and players to stop the score. I know in hindsight and they still could have won it but considering the lead I thought they shouldn't have competed so hard. Let France score then defend further up the pitch with 15.

Yeah, even though I was pretty annoyed at not getting the pen try in the second half I generally thought Pearce and Barnes did a good job. At the end of the day, we should've seen that game out.

We talk about painting a picture for the referee and sadly Wales were painting a very bad one at the time.

Don't mind Owens explaining the laws I think its useful thing (when hes right), think describing it as an unacceptable decision is out of order however.

Yeah It's a bit strong to be fair. Owens likes the limelight to be fair and as it was for Scrum 5 he will be playing it up a bit.

Although watching that again you could argue that is a intentional knock on by Williams (that is an interpretation, not necessarily one I hold) which would be straight yellow in that situation.

Mmm, I kinda listened to that and interpreted him to mean in the sense of him getting abuse when he's not even committed a pen. He starts off saying it's unacceptable that anyone gets abuse but it's even more unacceptable that he did nothing wrong. Its cuts both ways I guess and listening to it back I can see why you think that but I'm not sure he meant it like that, tbh. Probably could've articulated himself better though.

Yeah, it did look like heads were slightly lost from the red onwards. Sheedy came on and slightly on a kick which led to Halaholo being offside, and I don't think Liam William's decision to go for it there made sense - not enough reward for the risk. Thought the Faletau yellow was correct but it was very close to being perfectly judged in slowing ball and getting away with it - in some senses a bit unlucky France were held up so soon after, as I think if there had been more phases he might have got away with it.

From the second yellow on they really seemed to panic and arguably lucky not to get another yellow. The sealing off penalty was pretty blatant but can see why it happens.

As @MikeTheNative mentioned, I don't wanna put any energy into refereeing decisions on Saturday. I dont like whining about them at the best/worst of times but what with how this 6 Nations in particular went... we just have to take it on the chin and move forward with that same chin held up.

Very clever 'play' from Aldrit actually.
