[2018 November Tests] England vs New Zealand 10/11/18

Based on recent events I'd agree with you 100% But let's be honest we've all been saying for some time that not only is Brown not really up to it, even assuming he was a world class 15 we really have no other options the irony of it is we all wanted someone else there and now back tracking wanting him there I do feel for coaches sometimes, I myself am as guilty of this U turn as the rest having said all that we might be in a different position if we capped someone like Woodward instead of The Daly/Watson experiments although both those players are serious weapons on the counter.
I have less of an issue with dropping Brown I've long advocated his removal. But his removal for a complete non-entity like Slade is where I object.

If we were dropping him to get Manu, Ford or Daly playing I'd understand those guys have proven international calibre behind them. The issue is Slade who has done nothing at this level.

He didn't even play well in the SA game, 50% of his tackles missed and made only 4 metres. Granted he's out of form and fitness but that isn't very good at all.

I think the England selection of Te'o is prompted more by the graft that the RFU put in to nab him from the Irish more than his form.

If by chance England do end up winning this thing then i hope its because we pulled out all the stops and stepped up rather than All Blacks having a bad day at the office and England papering over the cracks again saying we must be good we beat SA and NZ.

We need to step up or get put in our place. And use it to go forward.

No one beats an on-song All Blacks. Even in their loss to South Africa earlier this year, their wide defence was garbage and they threw a few intercept tries.

Jones coming out and saying Farrell doesn't get protection. He's a good troll!

Although I did notice a few late hits last week. I think Daly got taken the latest though.

He's not wrong, to be fair.
Farrell has always been targeted - I doubt he gives a **** because he does the same to the opposition, but he gets hit late multiple times every game.
Part and parcel of being a flyhalf

It would have to be a combination of both.

The ABs tend to press the accelerator and score in waves. Pretty easy to see them having a 15 minute patch where they run away with the game.

We'd be looking more at a game long scrap and an 85th minute iceman penalty.

Think the ABs will be up for it, but should be fairly routine 10 point win for them.

Our bench doesn't really scream game changers.

Daly is in danger of becoming a "jack of all trades" and master of none unless he is played in one position now. Sure he can cover wing or centre if absolutely needed, but if Jones sees him as his long term 15 then he should stay there for rest of AI and the 6Ns. He can sure work on his defence under the high ball.

This will be his 5th consecutive start at FB so I guess that's the plan. His previous 15 were as a winger, so that's a fair bit of international back 3 experience. That he remains vulnerable to the high ball is a worry and if I was Barrett (yeah right) I'd be sticking the ball up very high to land mid way between Daly and Ashton all day long.

Don't watch a great deal of the Prem but having seen a lot of Daly with Eng and the Lions I always thought he would be a natural fit at 15. I've been surprised at how difficult he has made the transition look. Still, a talented player and sure he will come good with a few more games under his belt.

It's a pity Wasps don't play Daly more regularly at full back i.e. as first choice. But with Le Roux also there that's going to be difficult. In attack he's got more up side than Brown, but under the high ball i'd Pick Brown all day long.

And that's the thing isn't it? I'd suggest that being able to contest the high ball is pretty much #1 on the list of things I'd want my fullback to be proficient at. Daly has struggled in this area and I suspect that the All Blacks may have noticed........

Given that Wales have a hobbit playing in that position successfully I'd assume that physical attributes aren't an issue. However, unless there's a significant improvement in Daly's play he's a liability.

This was the point I knew he was onto something.

Seriously why do feel the need to jam in Slade and play Daly out of position. I'd feel a lot happier if Brown was playing....and Brown isn't up to it why have we persisted with him for 2 and half years?
Brown is going to Japan and by the way so is Dan Cole Eddie is trying to build back up experience

It's what opensides get off on

That hobbit scores all their points and isn't quick enough for wing so FB it is.

Maybe we ought to send Daly over the water for a crash course in Gaelic football. The Irish reckon playing both sports from a young age really helps.

If Cole and Brown go they have to go as back up squad players. If they are the best we have in their respective positions then we shouldn't bother going to Japan.

Neither will win a World Cup, neither really offer anything compared to other nations tight heads and fullbacks.
