[2018 November Tests] England vs New Zealand 10/11/18

Love Nowell's intelligence of his running lines and his work rate.
It is this work rate that means the forwards have to do a little less work, meaning more of them available to clear out.
I much prefer union to League, but Nowell reminds me of a league winger or centre, someone who can take the pressure off the forwards for go forward ball.

May is starting to do it more, but still needs more work rate.

Not long to go now been looking forward to this game a long time hoping for a win but I'm used to watching England lol

May's one of the first names on the team sheet, Nowell's on the bench. I think that's about right. I love the way Nowell plays, but his pace will always always leave question marks about him on the wing at international level.

Just watching 2012 again on Sky. MoM was Tom Wood.

Yeah, Nowell is a world class player.

He reminds me of a young Cueto, tbh. Doesn't have the real world class speed/agility of a May/Wade, but makes up for it in game intelligence/running lines and defence (if we ignore the Lions tour...). He's a really classy player.

I don't think he's world class but he's certainly classy. I think he'll transition well to centre or full-back eventually but totally serviceable at international level on the wing until then.

I never thought I'd say this but May can't be miles off a world xv these days. He's certainly make the 2nd team for me.

Wood lived on that for to long

2012 game is on sky sports right now. The English really had the all sharts on the ropes all day worse than a case of diarrhea. I'd love a repeat today but they don't have near the penetration this team did even though pretty much all of these guys are still around. Reminded me of the value of Tuilagi at test level.

No way of knowing yet... 'something' may yet have been slipped into the NZers hotel main course last night.

Don't ask me why, but I have a feeling we can do this today. Maybe watching the 2012 game has wound me up. But something that game proves is how human the ABs really are. Put them under proper pressure, hit them back in the tackles, challenge them at the breakdown, and they start to creek, knock things on, Miss their penalty kicks. In 2012 the ABs fell to pieces, just like any other team under heavy pressure at Twickers.

Desperate to see the myth of the ABs broken down today, and at the same time reignite our own myth, that England can't be beaten at HQ!!

So come on lads. Make this foolish fans dreams come true!!!

He was such a good player until he forgot how to ruck, tackle, carry the ball etc

Looks good in the back but I would like to see Young's, Farrell, Noel, Tualangi, Daly, May Brown.
I used to like Youngs, but think Care better these days. Youngs kicking was poor v SA. England improved with Care on the pitch.

Back of my mind says it aint going to matter which of them doesn't see much ball ...... :)

I respect Farrell coz he is a proud, staunch Englishmen. He doesnt seem to crumble under pressure whenever we play them and he's always involved somewhere. England need players of this mindset, he doesnt take no **** and gives it his all.
One of the hardest England players I can draw to mind. Mentally and physically. Past and present.

I had to laugh, when on the recent 2017 Lions tour, when Justin Marshall pointed out his winning kick in the second test as possibly "the most important kick in his young career". Farrell was on the England team that beat the All Blacks in 2012 (38-21), and probably kicked more than half the points that day. "Five" years previous? Young career?

Not sure why people ever condemn Farrell. One of the few English/European players who would not be out of place in a blacks shirt.

This is the game pommies and gentlemen. This is the one Im looking forward to. I think we'll beat Ireland but Im not so sure about England, especially after they beat the Boks. This is the real test.
While I am hoping for a contest..... nea, an England victory of orgasmic proportion, I just cant see us giving the ABs much of a contest.

Couple (three) of years ago, we were ready to play the ABS, but England have rather struggled in the interim. Second half V SA will bolster them, but the ABs are a different level. No disrespect to SA. England will spend their time tackling black shirts, so it'll be a stout rear guard that wins it, if they stand a chance at all. Perhaps I have been away too long. We shall see.

**** me, it's raining a bit there isn't it?
I've had drier baths
Hopefully some ABs players will slip over during the Haka and in our themselves.

Going to be a slugfest with plenty of handling errors.
