It must be said that Healy and maybe Scannell aside our bench doesn't bring a huge amount of impact in the sense that they're largely technical players and not game changers. That said, it's no mean bench, and O'Mahony could bring an entirely different type of impact beyond carrying. If you need someone to raise the intensity of your play, he's the guy.

Vunipolae sounds like a Roman sex dungeon.

I don't have a particularly good feeling about this game. Think if Ireland reduce their errors with ball in hand, improve set-piece, and are allowed to compete at the breakdown, they have the edge. Ireland by 4 imo. If they don't improve the set-piece we should hopefully have the edge.

I'll bow to your superior knowledge on that one.

Took four years of Latin mate. Fangirled out at Caecilius' gaff in Pompeii. Not to mention I was an altar boy for about 3 years. I know a dungeon when I hear one.

Maybe add McGrath to that mix, he can wreak havoc against tired legs.

Its also mad that a couple of knock ons v Wales means Heaslip is "below par", Picamoles is the only 8 who has been better than him in this championship and even then Heaslip got the better of him when he was in Dublin. Today could be the first battle in deciding the Lions test 8 if you ask me.

Not only is Dublin playing host to one of the world's most beloved cultural festivals in St.Paddy's day this weekend, but also Europe's largest sex show ever!

Think it's a day where hopefully Ireland will see where they're at.
Our lineout has been poor this championship.
Our turnover rate has been poor.
Defensive system has failed.
Back play and overall game plan has failed.
Unforced errors have been high.
Failure to use bench correctly. We are talking about impact from bench. That's Ireland's biggest issue we aren't trusting bench.

We've to correct all these to have a chance. This is a true test for the 2 coaches in different ways.
Schmidt has a very poor record vs English according to Jones he will want to try rectify that. And will see can he tactically show he is above.
Jones going for the record and continuing to build.

I think for Ireland the tackles must be made. We can't afford same amount of missed tackles we've made in recent games

Ireland are at 2-1 with some bookies! I think this is a 50/50 if not slightly in Ireland's favour. Home advantage, World Cup seedings at place, backs to the wall mentality, chance to spoil world record run and GS, no pressure, historical record vs England in Dublin, the fact that it's vs England and it's St Paddy's for goodness sake!

Not sure I can bring myself to bet against England but there's certainly value in doing so.

Ah good old Caecilius est in Horto. Little bit of trivia, the Doctor Who episode Fire of Pompeii has the characters from the Latin textbook (Caecilius, Quintus etc).

No player apparently loses form than Heaslip, before the Wales game people who hadn't even considered him were putting him on the plane to NZ but with the return of Binny and all that he and Faletau have done this tournament....well the zeitgeist has spoken.

Poor Quintus took some of the worst homophobic bashing 12 and 13 year olds could muster back in the day. Poor lad's legacy lives on as a coping mechanisim for young confused private school boys.

Not getting in to a debate on it as I genuinely have no view. I've called for Heaslip dropped in past. Not as much lately and partly more on balance of Backrow not him playing poorly as such.
However my point is more on end bit of all Binny and Faletau have done this tournament. But we can't say much in Ireland as we have picked guys based on what they've done in past without form. Sean O'Brien being the example.
And I'm on record as saying I think Faletau is massively overhyped.

Any way back on game. I've strong feeling we may try Connacht style today. Keep ball in hand and run

I know it's off topic but I have to ask ... did you guys choose to do Latin at school, or did you have to?

Groundhog and I had a choice going into school and then a choice to keep it up at the end of our 1st year, I opted out to become an artist he kept up the very useful subject.

My brother informs me the module has since been taken out of the school.

I'm sworn off gambling but, even though I am an ardent England fan, when I was younger I would have taken those odds. This would mean I had a win whatever the result. It's a great chance for players to show that they can play for the Lions. The other reasons you mention are largely irrelevant. Spoiling someone else's party is not what it is about. Back to back GS? It's been done before. Longest winning streak ever. Who cares until we have beaten NZ. Pulling on that jersey for your country is what should be important. Pride. Don't care whether you are English or Irish.
