2017 Americas Rugby Championship

Mainly from domestic league but some of them also train in "Pladar", so its like a pro squad vs Amateur sides. As for making the cut to Jags, probably some will but not a replacement for Sanchez to be found among them =(

idont think arg xv fieded their best posible team it was more like a b team even for arg xv there`s been a rotation during all the tournament. most of the players are very young. the selectors are thinking more of the future. we will see some of this guys stepping in los jaguares in years to come.

ignacio larrague has been impresive he´s just 21 201 mts 120 kg he´ll be good with lavanini in a year or too, the jaguares need second rowers! last year we ended up playing with ortega desio as second rower. he can play but only as a replacement he isn´t tall or heavy enough. guido petti did good but he´s also small for an international level (194 and 108 kg) if you compare with lavaninis 202mts and 130 kg the difference is quite ovbious.
cancellieri has been good too (i realy dont like bertanou or ezcurra) he could be an interesting prospect to replace cubelli and landajo.
luna and delguy looked good in the back line so did julian dominguez, we need an option for tuculet!

Has a relatively large effect on the rankings - 1.8 points. Enough to put USA within 1 point of Romania, and drop Canada below Namibia and Russia into 20th place.

They can climb back just as easily this weekend though by beating Uruguay.

The US played very well. Impressed as always with Mikey Te'o and Will Magie kicking from the field. If Magie can get it together in front of posts he'll be a shoe in for the number two fly half behind Macginty

Wasn't the score like 50-30 or something? Combination of poor defence and good attack I'm guessing. Also was either side anywhere near full strength?

I think there are obvious difficulties getting their top players in Europe released. I think the Canadian side was considered more experimental and pretty youthful in their forwards at least. I'll be having a look at the match, thanks Argie!

The standings at three rounds.

The US continue to improve under Mitchell which makes me eat my words. I hope they beat the Argentina XV as losing the tournament is the only way that Argentina will ever consider playing a full test side, or at least a very strong second XV in the matches that don't clash with Super Rugby.

I'm agree but Arg XV has a very strong team. The same as the Eagles, so it will be a match very similar to last year. They are at the same level.
IMO there are three mini-tournaments, or rivals to win, and the equivalences are like this:
- USA and Arg XV
- Canada and Uruguay
- Chile and Brazil

Yes. I think Brazil could maybe have competed with Uruguay if they had been hosting the match. A little disappointing Canada lost quite heavily to the US in Canada.

We cant put a full test side cause they are on jags/non pick-able Europe players. This is as strong as it gets maybe some players could be spared yet there is no gain in that. We need to give younger players play time and if we beat everyone by 50 there is no fun what so ever to the crowds.

This level is fine, i hope USA wins so its boast rugby there.

As last year it seems that USA and Canada are taking different aproach to this turnament. Showing USA a stronger team.
Now we will see how this second part of the tournament (including the traveling) afects them (USA didn't handled it very well last year).

Later this year (during the RWC qualification) we will see if USA is actually stronger that Canada (as the ranking currently shows), or if Canada still can beat them.

Fair point, but I thought Brazil's results were credible in November as they are much less experienced internationally than Uruguay and a lot lower ranked. Uruguay losing to Germany was a shocker and as it was first game up I don't see why it would be all that more challenging than playing in the USA (a better side albeit in similar time zone).

Do you think Uruguay have any chance of getting a top 3 finish this year in this championship?

Yes, I think they could beat Canada if they play as at the first half against the Eagles.

I really believe in the improving of their rugby. I don't know what happened in November when they lost with Spain and Germany, but perhaps it has been a misstep against two countries that are also growing a lot in rugby.

Brazil and Chile's performances were far superior to the scorelines. The Brazilian's try was outstanding and they had a series of exciting line breaks throughout the match. A huge issue for both sides is fitness and conditioning as they lose huge amounts of points when they run out of energy. But there is a lot of raw talent there and Brazil in particular are playing a brand of rugby that can only help win over support of the public.

Cancelliere looks like a possible option for the Jaguares squad at scrum half while Landajo is injured?

Cancelliere looks like a possible option for the Jaguares squad at scrum half while Landajo is injured?

Not yet. Is too young. He needs more experience.
Remember that the current scrumhalves of the Jags, Gonzalo Bertranou and Felipe Ezcurra, were the scrumhalves of Argentina XV last year in the first season of the ARC. Their perfomances served as trampoline to the SR franchise.
