[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 1: Scotland vs. England (06/02/2016)

Our World Cup was terrible due in most part due to very poor selections (Barrit and that league none sense) and a stupid game plan. Given what England had at our disposal most would have expected at least semi finals, where as Scotland's performance, and indeed Wales, was a pleasant surprise. And let's be honest the scots won't even be getting a game against a fully fit A team. With several quality players missing through injury. Winning in rugby is never a forgon conclusion, and underdogs will always have their day, but on form, and on historical form, England should walk away winners.

Ps who's Bennett?[/QUOTE]

Well, your defence will get used to the rear view of him. By the way, has something given you the impression taht Scotalnd are fielding a fully fit side? All of this smacks of early excuses.

If you're English then pride is arrogance.
So is implying we might win.
So is implying we won't get 100pts put on us.

Essentially if you're English and dare to talk about English rugby you're being arrogant no matter what you say.

Yes. Poor you.

Nah. No excuses. As an arrogant Englishman I expect England to win this game. If they don't it's not the end of the world and there are players waiting in wings to replace those who fail to perform. I think the fact that England are rebuilding and Scotland have some good momentum should make this an interesting competition tomorrow. But make no mistake, England should win, and there will be no excuses if they do not.

Queue lots of moaning about the ref.... or is that tonight's match?
(not a personal observation btw - just the way these things go, especially after "no excuses" noises)

Well certainly the ref for the game wouldn't be my first choice, but again you can never blame the ref if you loose. Something Mr Laidlaw may need reminding of.

Good luck to all I say. Let's hope it's a great opener with plenty of action. Edinburgh is a super place to play and watch the worlds greatest sport and both teams have a lot to offer. I just hope England can emerge from it al victorious and ready to kick off a grand slam.

I would say it's generally considered a good principle to have a decent idea of who all the opposition players are before gobbing off...

It's a good Scottish side. Player for player, I'd struggle to say which is better. But most of those Scots have played in sides that have consistently lost to England, and most of the English players have played in sides that have consistently beaten Scotland, so my eyes would seem to deceive me.

I was just poking fun. But seriously to say you couldn't pick the two teams apart?! Really. Well I guess only time will tell.

Maybe Lancaster is simply a genius coach?

He was pretty decent at 6N to be fair but... yeah, well. You know the answer to that one as well as I do

Lancaster is literally the most qualified coach in the world, who are you to question him?

I have no witty comeback so I'm just going to murder you and pretend it never happened. Cool?

I'm not sure I've seen a witty comeback from you Peat. Presumably that lack has led to a pretty impressive body count in your past; no relation to Dr Shipman are you?

Simply no need to go there. None of us will know how it feels to give an interview minutes after being deprived of a WC semi final spot in a professional sport in such heartbreaking fashion. He didn't mention Joubert or the referee. He asked why they couldn't go to the TMO - the same question was asked by the pundits in the studio and it took a little while before we got clarification. His biggest mistake was not congratulating Australia on their victory and giving them credit for their performance but hopefully he's learned from that.

Let's hope we see a great game of rugby tomorrow and may the best team win.

No, but I do have a role in a Specsavers ad for you.

It will depend on the weather if we get good open rugby I feel.
If it's chucking it down and blowing a gale it won't be conducive to good handling and running but more of an attritional type of game with lots of forward play.

With the forecasted weather and England's team selection and desire for a victory (any victory), I really do not see this as a game for the neutral.

If you wanted a free flowing, running game, you should have been in HK this am!! This one could, and probably will, be a slog fest despite the Scots wish to run it and take it to England......

Yeah going to be one for the forwards looking at the weather, reckon no more than a try each, possibly 2.

Now Borthwick is back in the England set up will we have the honour of seeing his scabby nose in a post match interview after the game?
