[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 1: Scotland vs. England (06/02/2016)

It's fairly lumpy, but if you were picking a Lions pack now, how many would be in it or on the bench?

The Vunipola's, George and maybe a couple of our locks in the squad ? We will have a better idea after this year once Eddie has laid his stamp on the team properly . You have to give the guy time . He's a good coach but he's not a miracle worker

Typical Walesonline TBH.

I feel like every time someone posts a WalesOnline link on here, that it should come with a bloody great big * to state that it is not the views of the majority of us, and that they're a bunch of idiots over there...

Hilarious for most, humiliating for the Welsh. Sigh.

Yes and no. The majority Welsh posters here are far too evolved for nonsense like this, it certainly doesn't reflect on posters like yourself. In the long run though, articles like this do whip up nationalistic fervour and xenophobic hatred, which does end up rubbing off on the more casual supporters and does the image of the game no favours.

Cole to start; Mako, George and Launchbury to bench. We're looking for a fair few players to keep up their evolution imo.

To be fair, the BBC is barely any more sophisticated when it comes to its rugby articles.

I can't believe I even clicked on this link, but I did.
A player ranking of players who hit the hardest? Ok, thanks BBC Sports Intern.

Barely an improvement on the world cup article creating an index of forwards and backs alike based on power, skill and ferocity. Moronic.

I think that BBC article has a photo of Jonny Gray's tip tackle v Samoa to illustrate his destructiveness.

It comes a day after comparing the northern hemisphere with the Southern Hemisphere. And to help prove the authors comments he ignores the statistics from the final weekend of the 6n.

It's been like this for ages though. England lacks world class, but has more "nearly world class" than any home nations team. If the players of Wales/Ireland rate between 6 and 9 out of 10, English players rate between 7 and 8.

Compared to what it could have been, I'm left a little underwhelmed.
Slow backrow, blindside at 7, Faz at 12... things we vowed never to see again.
Neither props look like they can scrum properly atm, Goode on the bench, Care throwing intercept passes and mismanaging the game... it could all go wrong very quickly.

Care throwing intercept passes! The guy is on fire this season and is a real threat around the fringes. He youngs are more or less on par as far as I can each with his own skills that add something.

I agree on Goode who serves no purpose, but I'm starting to understand the idea of having a 10 playing 12, especially a chunky bugger like Faz who can also tackle, and is starting to understand how to run with ball in hand a la Gitue.

Without Armitage we are not going to have an overly special back row, but maybe with time and coaching they can learn

The thing is Kvesic is a fine 7 and we wouldn't even think about Armitage if Kvesic was in. I think it would be interesting to see Armitage playing in a squad that doesn't have the bulkiest forwards in the world. Kvesic plays in a much poorer team yet frequently stands out. There is literally nothing more the guy can do except change club.

Also Underhill is supposed to be a potentially big name in the future, he's U20 yet apparently already holding his own against players with much more experience at the breakdown.

Hardly representative is it?

Fairly standard scientific practice to ignore aberrant results, no?

Wow, that's genuinely embarrassing.

Does the xenophobic prick not realise he lives in England?
I hope he gets worked over big style in the game.

Yep maybe straight from the kick off just give the ball to Billy and run the **** over

He only plays for Scotland because he wasn't good enough for New Zealand

When are teams announced and, who would England/Scotland fans like to see in the match day starting 15/Replacements bench?

Sharpen Hartley's fingernails and just let the two kiwis fight it out.

I still find it difficult to believe that in this day and age hating England would be so important for grandparents to teach a child . Maybe they should have taught young Sean to pick and choose when to open his mouth . That would have been a better life lesson
