2016 RBS Six Nations Predictions

Yes agree Anscombe if fit and firing should get the 15 jersey, if Walker stays fit and this seems to be one of his longer periods of fitness I'd go with him on one wing, although I don't think we'd loose much if either Amos or Dirksen got the nod, it does look like we have developed strength in depth in certain positions and the way Gats slots a player in every now and again is commendable, admittedly some selections are forced by injury.

Sam Davies played himself into the 6 Nations squad with a match winning 40 minutes.

Certainly. I'm inclined to think that he's our second best option atm. He's really developed his game this season, adding a genuine running threat to his already solid kicking game and game control. He's also pretty cool under pressure.

The English players are exceptionally more talented than the rest of the 6N dross, though. They'll adapt in no time.

Oh dear, so soon after a horrendously embarrassing effort as the hosts of the RWC, already English arrogance has come to the fore.
As I recall, one of the home nations teams couldn't even get out of their own pool to join the others in the quarter finals.
I wonder which team that could have been...

I think Oly is trying a light troll which is known as not being serious.

Wales to win on points.

Novès to have a Saint-André

he did have a great game to be fair. second best option at 10 or 15? because i can see him being more than able in both positions. seeing as liam williams is out and we do not really have a firm back up to biggar, might see Anscombe, Morgan and S.Davies in the squad covering both positons (maybe not morgan at 10)

It may well boil down to the last game on March 19th, England v France.
England, by a short head!

does anyone else think eddie jones' england are going to shock everyone? they are being written off but i can seem them playing with real tempo and speed and blowing the other teams away. its either this or jones will not have enough time to get the squad to play his type of rugby. im really looking forward to seeing them play though

Jones is no mug and England have excellent players to choose from, but its very early to be expecting them to gel.
If they play Kvesic as a sniffer they will certainly be worth watching.

Written off? By Welsh press maybe we're talking about a country that has been one game off a grand slam in the last 5 editions of the tournament and had two different coaches in that time period.
They have an 'easy' run in to the tournament Scotland followed by Italy.
Yeah the world cup was a shambles (caused mainly by a poor coaching regime) but England still have the players to compete as proven by last years showing, I don't either think Scmitt or Gatland think in the trips to Twickenham they'll be favourites to win.

i think the general consensus is that there isnt enough time for them to gel together as there are quite a few changes. albeit deserved changes

If this season's 6N is like last season's, we're in for some good rugby.
Wales and Ireland are always a serious threat, Scotland may at last get a couple of wins, France will be unpredictable (heard that before, haven't you!) although I'm 100% behind Novès who does deserve the chance to turn French rugby around - and I don't give a monkey's that he's 62 and too old; but I've a suspicion that England will prevail, they've got Ireland and Wales at home and they can win in Paris.

I really don't know what to expect from Ireland here and definitely don't think we should be considered favourites or even top two. Schmidt will l be blooding a new and temporary second row partnership and we could see a lot of change here, new players in at backrow is almost certain and we'll likely see a new centre pairing and possibly a change in the back three. This side will be far from settled and have the most difficult start to the tournament possible.

If we beat Wales and France continue to be poor a grand slam is on the cards but an opening round loss could see us have a lacklustre tournament and finish 4th! Ireland are almost as much of an unknown entity this year than England and France considering Schmidt is going to add to his playing style having fell short in October.

To the EPS but I don't think you'll see that many first caps in the starting 15 and it will look pretty familiar come game time. I'm expecting most likely to see a Cheika like improvement (probably not as big) rather than a team struggling to win.

As for time to gel, yes there are only 2 weeks together until the Scotland match but I'll be mightily surprised if we lose that one (as will most people be honest) and it'll be upset of massive proportions for us to fail against Italy. So the reality is we have 5 weeks until the Ireland game with 2 competitive games where we can probably try some stuff out in between.

Not saying we'll win it that's nowhere near a forgone conclusion but I think writing off England's chances to be in mix is foolish at best.
