Anyone who believes that it is only Kiwis who have problems with Barnes' refereeing, should have a chat with Northampton supporters

Well, most Aussies who follow League and Union have a problem with Owens... And not just because of his whiny squeaky voice.

To be honest, whilst you know your stuff SC, your posts on Barnes read very much as those of a ****** off ABs fans.

Ireland are not his biggest fan either after his woeful reffing vs Wales.

He's inconsistent and effectively helps worse teams beat better teams with unbalanced one eyed performances. Had a gutsful of him.

So how do you explain the massive difference from this game and last weeks game? Theres no way we "just played better" (we did play better obviously) theres no way you turn around 30-40 points on a team at this level just by getting home advantage and playing better. Australia didnt even look like scoring a try in this game bar Peranaras gift.

Its pretty clear in the scrums Barns has no idea whats going on. The clips I highlighted in the other thread show what Pocock got up to last week in the breakdown. It just ridiculous to even try to say Barns had no effect on last weeks game.

Heres some analysis on the Ireland game.

He's a trend ref, he goes with the word that's going around. "Ireland are cheating at the breakdown" is a common complaint - Goes into the game with this mind frame and looking to penalize them at every chance he gets. Sure they do in areas, but to just constantly pick on the side and just watch for it all game without policing the other side properly seems to be his issue. He can't find a good balance to his reffing.

Referees

Most Kiwis still can't forgive or forget Barnes' inept performance when the French bundled the AB's out of the world cup.

In Sydney the AB's were crap and got well beaten fair and square but Barnes was awful at officiating the breakdowns.

After the game I did my usual frame by frame autopsy of the recording and found Pocock and Hooper were allowed to consistently and obviously pilfer the ball while not supporting their body weight.

I can understand a referee doesn't always get things right but how Barnes could be so blind beggars belief.

So was it Barnes who missed all those tackles last week too? Seriously mate, just get a grip. You guys are always a lot better at Eden park and frankly you played like **** last week. That's the difference

Yeah we did, but Barnes didn't fairly police the breakdown properly either and that's a fact.

Are you totally retarded?? THEY ONLY HAD THAT BLOODY BALL TO MAKE US MISS TACKLES BECAUSE WE WERE BLOWN OUT OF THE BREAKDOWN CONTEST BY POCOCK AND HOOPER ILLEGALY WITH HELP FROM BARNS. Australia had all the ball last week and alot of it was through Barns not policing the breakdown or the scrums correctly.

As I said last week if we thrashed Australia this week its proof that all wasnt well with Barns performance and I totally stand by that and its totally reinforced that statement in every way imo.

A couple of my countrymen on this forum are starting to get embarrassing. Barnes allowed BOTH teams last week to still have a crack at the ball once they were blown off their feet not just the wobs. We were out enthused at the breakdown an the wobs played a decent game (Aus have a lot of improvement to come). The ABs weren't up to standards last week they missed simple tackles, dropped balls because of the pressure put in them from the Aussies line speed, Barnes didn't cost us the game.
Last night the ABs rectified that with mongrel, enthusiasm, body height at the breakdown and it goes to show when the ABs are playing with purpose it's not a contest anymore, hopefully we can play out the rest of the year like the ABs played last night.

BS

First half of Terror by Pocock and Australia...... This was not even watching all the whole first half just a skim through. Theres **** loads more in there im sure. I not saying he didnt give any **** calls to Australia as he did with that first yellow but the Breakdown was just a total utter joke. And I just watched some of the Ireland game FFS what was the Warburton yellow for?

12:20 Pocock doesnt enter through the gate holds on and flops onto the ground gets penalty his way.
14:34 Pocock again. Milner skudder no opportunity at all to place the ball. (this is a pet peeve of mine about the game in general).
16:25 Matt giteau. Same thing again not allowing NMS to place the ball. Giteau has his hand all over the ball while lying in an offside position on the ground.
16:47 Pocock slowing our ruck ball down. Looks illegal to me. Directly after the Giteau one.
***Sekope Kepu sinbin for not retreating on the A Smith tap and go.
21:15 Pocock straight down bridging to protect the ball. Illegal. No chance of a contest whatsoever.
21:42 Pocock that looks illegal same again. Someone correct me if im wrong...
33:37 Hooper no time to place the ball and Hoopers head is like two inches off the ground theres no way he's not proping the ground on his hands or elbow or something.

Can we please just drop it? I'd love to hear other people's analysis on this match. There are some things Barnes could have done better as a referee. But there are also a lot of thing the ABs could have done better too. I think that's been acknowledged. Let's just move on, because it's not worth ruining a thread.

I'm really happy for Richie, he's the greatest ever, him and Colin Meads, but Richies gone on to pass Meads. McCaw is undoubtedly the greatest of all time, no arguing that and no other contenders now, what an incredible career.

I reckon we almost need a section dedicated to Ref discussion. In particular who's most deserving of a WC final reffing appointment in an order like 1 to 10 or something.... given that they cant ref their home countrys game.

Owens will surely get the RWC final, don't think many would disagree or complain. Great ref with good interpretation skills, rationality and authority

Like I said, get a grip mate. Seriously, if blaming the ref makes you feel better about last week then fine. Just don't expect the rest of us to swallow your bulls##t.

What'd you think of Cheikas selections Sanzar and what areas you want to address?

Did anyone notice that Barnes was running the line for the Bledisloe Cup game in Auckland?
The whole game he had a face like a smacked arse.
He hates it when the All Blacks are winning.

As I mentioned earlier it was likely because Nigel Owens was schooling him on how to run a game of rugby properly. Or the crowd was giving it to him (I hope they were anyway).

It's a tricky one to be honest. The biggest thing for me was the collisions. Last week our forwards were always bending or breaking the gain line, which covered up how poor we were in the halves, but this week the ABs defense was significantly more intense; their line speed was immense and our halves never got a chance to get into the game.

That said, I didn't think they were that bad. In fact Cooper was better than I thought (apart from the high balls).

In terms of changes, I think Pocock needs to start and Hooper should come off the bench. Paul was also pretty underwhelming. Not sure who is the solution there, but I lean against starting both Pocock and Hooper all the same just because of the line out.

In terms of the back line, I think Giteau is our 10 and Beale may be worn a shot at 12. He was genuinely impressive in his time off the bench, most surprisingly in defense.
