2014 QBE Internationals [EOYT] England

The alternative is Kitchener, though, and he's spent unless I'm mistaken not that much time with the set-up even if he's trained recently

Depends what you mean by time with the set-up - he was on the NZ tour, was at the start of season get together, he's been in Saxons squads for donkey's years before that. I imagine he knows the general structures reasonably well by now.

I think if the game opens up then off the bench you could utilise Kitcheners pace, but if Kruis is on the bench then he can cover lock and 6. I think Kruis is a more England style lock in the fact that he regularly makes 10+ tackles a game and is a great lineout jumper. Kitchener is also a very good lineout jumper and can make lots of loose carries because of his winger pace.

If Kruis is a great lineout jumper kitch is fantastic. ;)

Must be honest haven't seen much of him (or much rugby at all working 7 days a week :( ) But Kruis seems to be our main target at lineout time and steals a lot as well. But seeing as he is a Tiger I am willing to accept that Kitchener is the lineout operator out of them. Still I think that Kruis sits in the Launchbury role better but without the pace but a bit more grunt. I think that Kitchener might be a better bench option than Kruis as he is more explosive, Kruis' stamina and power is better utilised as a starter.

Don't disagree about Kruis being more of a Launchbury fir, Or having Kitchener as a impact sub.

Re Mullan - I think people are perhaps underestimating what Marler has done for England recently.

He's been very, very physical in defense - Mullan does OK, and the volume of work he does probably isn't far off the other guys, if at all different - but the quality of what he does around the park is nowhere near the other guys.

Rowntree seems pretty confident Dave will be back on thursday.

If I was picking the side:

1. Marler
2. Hartley
3. Wilson
4. Lawes
5. Attwood
6. Haskell
7. Robshaw
8. Morgan
9. Care
10. Ford
11. Yarde
12. Barritt
13. Joseph
14. Rokoduguni
15. Foden

16. Mullan
17. Webber
18. Brookes
19. Kruis
20. Vunipola
21. Dickson
22. Farell
23. Slade

I may have lost track of who's available however...did Hask recover from his illness to be available? Do we know about Attwood? And the two hookers ... ?

Brendan Gallagher (who annoys me no end) has made the point that Hendre Pollard and Sean McMahon are both now playing for their respective international sides after competing in this year's JWC
Yet Maro Itoje, who was at least, if not more impressive than any other forward in the competition is playing A league and LV cup games.

Now, I'm not saying he should be in the senior England squad, but surely it's wrong that the guy isn't playing premiership rugby?

100% Itoje was awesome against quins . Scored a try that was wrongly disallowed by Leighton Hodges ****ty refereeing and his physicality was massive for a guy who has just turned 20 .....
