[2014 EOYT] Ireland vs South Africa

yeah, trips to South Africa aren't legion, ay. France hasn't been there in a while...thank God, given our current...situation.
Can't wait for the weekend either, goddamn it...England New Zealand, this one looks just great on paper, Wales Aus, France is fielding all these new guys and play a fellow Tier 2 nation, then even the Sco Arg is going to be really good and Ita Sam. Would love to have time for Romania, Canada, Georgia's games but heck oh man yeah there's Top 14 also !!....ooh, out to make the Day 11 thread..

France is the other one, yes. You've been here more recently than ireland though, I remember an Aplon try specifically; fleetfooted midget giving away 30kgs bumping off.. I can't remember who specifically but he was just so very wrong footed. It happens but it was quite funny.

But don't worry, Big E, PSA will surely be out some time or other. I mean surely he can't be THAT entrenched with the FFR? results will demand a change for sure!...? But, yes. Eng-NZ (top ranked from each hemisphere, white vs black), Ire-SA (two jolly green giants in fine 2014 form if a little deprived through injury), Wal-Aus (two teams in a bit of a sorry state though none can deny their ability even if it hasn't gone quite passed more than just potential in 2014).. it almost seems tailor made these match-ups as all three are about as balanced as it could be for week 1. And France will be up there again sooner rather than later and will be stronger come the RWC than recent results suggest is my wager.

 I love how that's worth mentioning and typing out and plays a role somehow ! Yeah France got smashed the last time we came to SA, not to seem nasty but it was the wrong France turning up scenario under Lièvremont...first game after what ? Guess. First game after our Grand Slam...way to confirm we were the top Euro side ay. Ze French for you !

Oh, do not underestimate the power of visual impact and XV men in white vs Xv men in black is about as crisp a visual confrontation as you'll find in international rugby. But this is Ireland in white and green vs SA in green and white right here. Nothing to sneeze at as well ITO the visuals and our men are more handsome.

ohhh I dunno about that...you seen that pic fat ginger posted there ?? Hmmm...

I mean SA and Ireland as a fixture contain more handsome men than the other fixtures. From SA.

Yyyyeah...looking back at the last few posts I'm pretty sure we destroyed this thread forevermore the Raven came knocking upon my chamber door man. I mean it seriously feels like there was a crowd around and we made so much noise about weird stuff ppl slowly started drifting away. Took me a while to wake up to that too !
I'm very disappointed no Irishman has attempted a solid comeback post to your latest though...a great disillusion, where's the effort anymore, the pashun.

Yeah, I might as well come out and say it. I've been very diplomatic but I really feel SA to take this by +24.

Praising another teams player is a far more intelligent tactic then saying something like "I don't know any of their players except for David Skrela" cough Pietersen cough. The other team can't get fired up by a complimentary comment like that.

Or only Brian O'Driscoll would start and maybe one of their secondrows would make our bench....

Haha I don't think it's going to happen :p.
I guess I always come into tests pessimistic out of habit, but I will be happy with any win. We might have the potential to put up that kind of performance and win by a big margin but it will take A) Good conditions and B) Key players playing at their top tier C) Probably an off day for Ireland.

yeah, I was actually more fishing/trying to get some discussion going but you're right, we do need all those things. If we get all 3, the rub of the green and a bit of luck ITO the bounce of the ball we could get something of an inflated score but I expect we wont so we'll have to work our asses (okay, the guys on the actual playing field) off to just get the win here.

That does get me thinking;

1 Healy
2 Du Plessis
3
Do either of us have a class TH ATM that's.. screw it, I'm going to include injured players.
4 Etzebeth
5 O'Connell
6 O'Brien
7 Alberts
8 Vermeulen
9 Du Preez
10 Sexton
(I'm tempted to say Pollard on current form but he hasn't proven himself in adult yet)
11 Habana
12 -
13 -
14
I can't decide here
15 Payne
(Le Roux off it ATM)

And I have no idea what to expect from the Irish centers. Our own is either young and getting to grips with moving one space out (Serfontein) or not in top form (JdV). I think Ireland and SA should team up and paint the world green!

I reckon it'll be a one try game, whoever gets said try will win!
Our defense isn't that good and your defense isn't that good. Unless it's a mudbath I expect 4 or 5 tries total. Either way SA to get 3...

We conceded less than one a game in the 6n iirc, our attack isn't that great at the moment though.

Christ, that would be one scary back row..

& I disagree, our defence is what won us the six nations in my opinion. We only conceded something like 45 points the whole tournament. However, SA scoring 3 wouldn't be that surprising..

  I leave an hour or so, return, and find a fkng IRISH BOKS XV ON THE THREAD :D alright, that's just it !!! THAT IS IT MAN. schturmah, I have created a word just, yes just for you. You are the official TRF quindecimophile, an obsessive pathological condition I just invented which consists in being abnormally infatuated with XV's; from the latin 'quindecim' (fifteen) and old greek 'philein' (in love with).
I may slightly be on the verge of being a thread starting madman and have my issues there, but the xv threads I make are just part of that thread starting stimulus, nothing specific. You are the TRF quindecimophile my man and that's just that !! You don't even have a right to defend your case, it's oh, so far too late for that !!! If we could have the staff add that medal to your board there, that'd be great.

I love XVs !!! Luckily knowledge on the subject isn't needed so here I go
1.Healy (No contest really)
2.Bismark (Best in the world)
3.Moore
4.Etzebeth
5.O'Connell
6.Alberts
7.O'Brien
8.Thor
9.Murray
10.Sexton
11.Habana
12.Serfontein
13.Henshaw/De Villiers
14.Bowe
15.Le Roux

ah yes, one of the very unfortunate and most devastating repercussions of quindecimophilia: its contagiousness.

@TheSaffycen Great entrance to thread. haha

@stormer2010 I can actually see SA winning by a large margin, I've been really impressed with them recently and Ireland have a number of issues coming into this game with injuries and lack of game time being the biggest. With Healy and SOB fully fit and firing and a little more time to work out who should play in 12-13 we would have a much more even chance with that all cemented down. I also don't agree on defence we were porous V Aus last Autumn but under Joe thats the only occasion and I have really no idea what happened there.

I reckon SA will take it by somewhere form 7-17 points, it'll be tight until the second half when I think the Irish team will have been pounded into submission by Vermulan and co. at which point Pollard (Who i'm predicating will go well) will let lose Sefontain and Habana.
