[2014 EOYT] Ireland vs South Africa

Due to injuries, i can see this being SA by 15+

Really hope the Irish pull one out of the bag though! Good chance they will

Mick Kearney has said Sexton's 'injury' is nothing of concern. Racing took him off because they had an agreement with the IRFU. Ross and Best are doubts though.

Even if Ross is passed fit, what state will he be in?

What other choice do we have. Brilliant news on the Sexton front, I'm strangely confident as long as he's fit.

Don't get me wrong. Ross will start if possible. But if he's playing like he has then we will be murdered at scrum time regardless. But he is a guy who does improve as season progresses but that's with games. He hasn't played in a while and even then he was struggling.

I hugely confident as I don't think we are getting enough respect as team. I genuinely don't fear the Saffas

Was Stuart Olding dropped from the squad or just released for the Ulster match? Don't think he is suited to start against SA but it'll be interesting to see what Schmidt does with him.

Honestly I'm not confident at all, Healy and Ross with McGrath and Moore on the bench is one heck of a front row + replacement with the scrum nearly improving later on, but I just feel with that lack of impact due to injuries, SA will probably
pull away later on in the game. It's disappointing these injuries, because a reasonably full strength team in my opinion could match them pretty well - coupled with Schmidts' tactical nous and we could take them at home.

Back row is interesting, although O'Mahony at 7 and Ruddock at 6 sounds pretty good I don't think Henry deserves to be dropped completely, he's a valuable pest in the ruck and I don't think he would be great as an impact sub.

A few were released back for different reasons. Probably means he won't start but certainly a possibility for bench.

Traditionally in Rugby the home team is supposed to wear the away jersey, but it's a little less consistent these days.

I hear Vermeulen should be available. Good news since we are already without Louw and Alberts in the backrow though I wouldn't have minded seeing Whiteley or Carr get in. We can go down to our C string backrow and I wouldn't mind as long as the balance is right. There at least the depth is great.

I suppose we are getting the SA line-up tomorrow around 2 (here) as per usual?

Looking at that, we are going to have to work hard to make up for that 2006/2009 slip (even if the one was total BS.. 'go talk to your players' indeed!). 2004 last did Ireland visit SA- what's up with that! Anyway, everything pointing to a close match and the 2nd most 'important' of the weekend. I just can't wait anymore!!!

We'll be wearing what Kearney is in that pic. Isn't it great we have the same kit as the soccer team now?

It was their change kit.
Yes, but it is interesting to note that they were wearing a all black away strip, instead of the usual white away strip. I guess more teams are moving away from the traditional option of wearing a white away strip.

OH MY...well I mean..*slurp*....those are some elegantly worn kits there..

yeah, trips to South Africa aren't legion, ay. France hasn't been there in a while...thank God, given our current...situation.
Can't wait for the weekend either, goddamn it...England New Zealand, this one looks just great on paper, Wales Aus, France is fielding all these new guys and play a fellow Tier 2 nation, then even the Sco Arg is going to be really good and Ita Sam. Would love to have time for Romania, Canada, Georgia's games but heck oh man yeah there's Top 14 also !!....ooh, out to make the Day 11 thread..

If I remember correctly that was a limited edition stunt that Puma pulled off, they were selling the replica for around €90 with the players kit being more, we had a white away kit at the time.
