2014 6 Nations: France vs Ireland (Round 5)

Crazy stat said there. On his 30th birthday Bod had never won a medal as a pro player. Now look at him ha.

Ireland got a suspicious amount of luck in the last 2 minutes. Rory Best had a great game.

Good to see France dominate the 2nd half: brutal in the forwards, and 3 superb perfomances out the backs. BOD paid tribute to Basteraud. Amazing they can produce that with a few changes.

Away and dry your eyes - you are just a sore loser. Right team won the championship and dream send off for one of the greatest in BOD!

I hope you are aware of the irony of making such a comment about drying ones eyes, whilst you Gush about BODOD in the same way as the north Koreans gush about 'the revered leaderr'

Also I don't have a problem with Ireland winning the thing but don't know what you mean bythe right team won as I think England and gayland were on a par

It's hard to talk about any player other than O'Driscoll, but before this 6N I've always been very critical of Trimble - but his performances these last few games have been so so good, nice to see some recognition too from Schmidt.

Haha the only player RTE have to interview is the on player who doesn't drink.

Of course he was the player who probably did deserve motm.

I don't quite understand how Wood is saying that Szarzewski's try wasn't one... the ball never loses contact with his fingers.

I saw the ball leave his fingers and wondered why the commentators and ref didn't pick it up for a knock on.

What a great game. The in form teams in this tournament played like a team (England and Ireland). The two countries that had key injuries but played the best because they had a structure and everyone knew what they had to do. Really pleased for Dave Kearney and Trimble. They've been slated a fair bit but they filled in for guys like Fitz and Bowe very well. Very solid and provided moments of spark. Man Trimble went up a few gears today. I don't think O'Driscoll should have gotten MOTM but understandable considering the occasion. Could have gone to Trimble or POC.

@canadian_rugger, I agree. Not only clinical ability but fitness. That really stood out. The Irish and French looked dead in the last 20 minutes. Teams like SA and the ABs don't tire and can even go up a gear when they need it. Fitness is what gave the ABs the ability to conjure up that last minute try in November.

ANYWAY. Delighted we won the six nations. Shocked to hear we'd only won 1 six nations before this during our "golden generation".

England should have won the GS, but fortune can be like that. Two teams were head and shoulders above the rest this tournament, that much is clear. I thought the scrum should have been a penalty, Healy should have seen red and Pape should have made that pass, but it doesn't matter. All that is left is to tip the hat to the Irish, they also had a great tournament.

Is agree with this. I always said he's superb for Ulster but poor in green. He really had superb tournament and showed what great attitude and dedication will do. I thought him and POC were main MOTM contenders

You just couldn't hold off, could you? Alright, I can say then England vs Ireland should have been a draw as they had hands in the scrum at the end which should have been a penalty.

This was my point, not taking anything away from any team here I am just pointing it out. IMO the Irish were the best team all tournament and deserved the victory but the French and English also impressed me. I am fearing what Bastareaud is going to do to the Canadian backline in the World Cup :)

I said England at moment are probably a hair more better at the moment due to been further down line but at end of day if England should've won slam then they would have it's result business and they didn't do job in Paris.

Which would probably had been missed based on today :) We should have beaten France and deservedly beat you, that equates to a GS missed imo. I don't begrudge Ireland the ***le though, as I also said, congratulations.

Listen there is no harm in "gushing" about BOD - he's a once in a generation player and Ireland will never likely see a player like that again. I agree with you in terms of saying that England were as good cause they were and if anything they may be the dominant team going forward but allow the Irish their 5 mins in the sun (cause it doesn't happen very often)

And your reference to "gayland" is uncalled for though!

Can I just also say spare a thought for Jackson TOD Tuohy and Ruddock who all did a bit but will receive no medal.

That's crazy. The whole squad should get medals. They all played a part. Hasn't Jackson been on the bench for all of Ireland's games bar today?

I hope Doussain sh*ts himself in public and everyone can tell and they all point and laugh at him.

Useless sack of spuds he is.
