[2013 EOYT] England

Baffles me how a player so good as Guscott can turn into such a bad pundit. How?

I saw an interview before when someone asked a similar question and he said it's his job to say controversial things.

I don't think he believes everything he says

I dont like Guscott as a pundit but not because he is controversial because he isnt, all he does it trott out the conventional views of other pundits. To me he offers nothing new or fresh and dont know why the BBC waste so much time with him but then they waste time with Keith Wood, John Inverdale, Andy Nichol and the Sonia bird so Im not surprised.

Did anyone catch the Sale v. Irish game? Report said it was wet and miserable but I'm curious how Cips performed with Lancaster watching

Report mentions the first try was from a Cipriani cross-kick which is a hell of a lot more ambition than Farrell has been showing <_<

EDIT: This makes me a happy man:

Cipriani acknowledged the growing England clamour afterwards by saying that he would "love to get back" when accepting his man-of-the-match award.
He also dedicated the win to the Sale pack who had a firm control of this game once they had grabbed the initial lead.

I'm the conditions he did ok, but with the wind and rain the stage was never really set for him to shine and it was more of a forwards battle.
The cross-field kick, although the right idea, was a complete fluke and a freak bounce saw it bounce over O'conners head.
Overall a steady performance with some nice touches thrown in and he did handle the conditions better then Humphreys
Enough to convince Lancaster, I'm not so sure. Nonetheless, he is looking less like the old maverick and more the complete ten these days.
I'm not quite on the bandwagon yet, I prefer the look of ford.

I'm not really that bothered who we get in because Lancaster has quite obviously pinned his sail to Farrell jnr. That will always ruin all of the backs play unless he learns to play like a proper 10, which he won't learn.

He has been under c hodgeson and not learnt anything from him yet.

I thought he was really good under the conditions . Surely when you kick a cross field kick that is going to bounce you're hoping for a bit of luck ? At the moment I think I prefer him to ford tbh

He was Ok in the conditions other than his place kicking that was awful in the main and was shown how to do it by Humphries! Certainly his defense was much better and I reckon he hit about 6/7 tackles with only one maybe two missed....

His cross field kick was not intended to bounce but to hit the winger....it was miskicked but got away with it!

He still has lots to prove but I am an ardent supporter and would like to see him back at the top as soon as...........................

ESPN has Cipriani on 9 tackles, joint 2nd in the side (with Seymour and Cobilas, Paterson had 11). Does say 3 missed, but then it also says Braid missed 3, so if his defence is as good as Braid then I'm happy :p

Me too!!

Disappointing and annoying but I suppose in balance, it makes little odds anyway and if he didn't want to fight for it so be it.

Interesting debate to be had over the next ten, but probably utterly pointless given the attachment to Farrell.

I wonder if Lancaster might bring Myler through?
He values solidity/boringness from his 10, and that's what Myler would offer.

Should open up a spot for Cipriani in (at least) the Saxons, though.
