Heaslip's deal can't be called a mistake yet. If he comes back and plays like he did in the 6n and last Autumn it can't be complained about. If he's forced to retire he won't hold out for the money because he already makes big bucks outside the sport. Coming back as a much deteriorated player is the only way it'll be a bad deal really.

As was always the case. When there is a gulf in money like is the case why not. Of you'r doing alot of the same work that your peer is but he's getting twice the wage and more wouldn't you be same.

Zebos is a personal call based on family. Let's not forget his family are French. His in-aws are Spanish.
Donnacha Ryan. Left for huge payday at his age it's hardly leaving in lurch especially when no IRFU deal was offered despite claims.
Rassie. Would you call Schmidt a sell out if he left for NZ. Again that is a sad comparison from a man with no bias. And pre empting POM scenario and cladding him that way is a bit sad. Don't recall you calling Sexton similar or Healy last year?
And Snoop for a man who was all about RK stuff last Saturday you sound very hypocritical "attacking a man when down".

It was a mistake before it was signed as it was clear there was huge competition there and regardless of he was best 8 there or not it is a waste of money and as you said if Heaslip didn't need money why pay so much?
When you factor in age, competition in backrow and value it's awful and looks worst now as other players use it as leverage and injury

Meh, at the time it was given he was far and away the first choice 8 for Joe, he got injured which makes it look bad, that's unforeseeable though.
Bernard Foley is a cracking 10.

Rugby isn't a long career and unlike football don't earn millions of pounds a year so I don't think people should judge too much for players moving for money.
Having Zebo, Ryan and O'Mahony leave within a short time would be pretty crippling for us. Whatever about needs for the national team, the IRFU can't let so many high profile players go at once, let alone make it an attractive option for players. I know some people on here and elsewhere will react with thinly veiled glee if he goes just because they get off on the more reactionary elements of the Munster fanbase losing their **** at the IRFU (eg comments like 'so much for their pashun' etc etc), but two players leaving pre World Cup would be a horrible precedent for everyone, and a hamstrung Munster is awful for Irish rugby.
Not disputing that but given his age and the competitiveness of backrow factored with his age

Ah yeah, but looking at his injury profile and form prior to injury it made sense. He's a huge figure in the squad too.
I imagine POM would be looking at 350-400k this time around and I'd be of the opinion he deserves it after this Autumn where he proved to be a class above Ruddock. If the IRFU don't keep him they should be crucified, he's more important than D Ryan or Zeebs.
Well firstly can't see this as more than bargain thing.
Also you have to factor in market value as Munster captain and on Munster side of marketing as well as Ireland side.
Well, I think any discussion of top 3 outside halves in the world will boil down to 3 of:
Sexton
Farrell
Barrett
Foley
I dropped out Farrell as I think while he's a very good 10, he's a sharper operator at 12.
Anyway, point I was making, POM is not in the discussion for top 3 blindsides in the world. Indeed, if Marcel Coetzee was fit, he'd scrape in 3rd of the best 3 blindsides in Ireland. So how big is his bargaining power? Not as big as Frankie would have you believe.
Ah dunno. Leavy or VDF could become our 7 allowing SOB to revert to his best position. Or if Toner & James Ryan were in the row, Henderson could be at 6.
Agreed on more important than D Ryan and far more important than Zebo. But not irreplaceable IMO.
