now i'm officially angry about the cricket, well played again England but seriously, how do you go from cruising to bowled out in the blink of an eye. I've seen this happen in club cricket, but these guys are supposed to be the best in the country ffs
I was getting worried at one point, when Rogers and Warner were going they made it look easy but in our minds we knew 1 would lead to 2 as 2nd dig at Lords aside Khawaja hasn't shown any stomach for the fight. The ball that got Clarke was a snorter, after that it was a case of Broad bowling like a madman to get the rest out. Thank gawd Bresilad had that thrash in the morning session, without those runs we'd have been drastically short of anything resembling a tough target.
Credit to Ryan Harris, he bowled like a machine and has won a lot of fans over here through sheer guts and effort. The ball he got Root out with was nigh on unplayable

So the Cricketing world said goodbye to the little maestro this weekend with Sachin Tendulkar retiring in his 200th test.
Such a great player. Always looked to have ages at the crease and looked so elegant while doing it. Also, as we see stories of sportsmen doing stupid stuff, he kept himself off the radar and was the perfect role model for an entire country for so long

He's overrated in my opinion.
Obviously he's a great, but by the way media talk and worship him you would believe he was head and shoulders above everybody else. When in reality, he's not that much better than the other greats of his era like Kallis, Ponting, Dravid or Lara, yet all of his retirement tributes make it out like he's closer to Bradman's record than those players record.
Lara apart he was way above that level. I was lucky enough to see him live on a few occasions and even if he only scored a 20 or 30 he just had a way of batting that was unmatched in this era apart from Lara, the only other player who was in Sachin's league
Well every South African will agree with you. And Kallis is in our eyes a much better cricketer than him, and he bowls too!!
His accolades are also a bit inflated. most of his big scores was in India, which has always been a batting friendly pitch orientated country. Whereas Ponting, Kallis and Lara scored their runs all over the world on Bowler-friendly pitches.
that said, he was always a thorn in our side. And he managed to score a double century against us in an ODI. I will still give him respect as I think he deserves it.

He may have had more style but he wasn't that much better than Dravid or Chanderpaul. Certainly not head and shoulders above. I remember Dravid coming here last time they played and scoring runs for fun whilst Tendulkar was toiling for a hundred, Chanderpaul has come here in swinging conditions many times and held up the West Indies from annihilation after Lara retired. Tendulkar averaged 53 to Dravid's 52. Kallis has better stats in all forms of the game than him as well and picks up wickets bowling of course.
There's an argument to say he was the best of the bunch, but it's debatable and not clear that he was the greatest as the media makes out with the likes of Lara, Ponting and Kallis, and there are others who are pretty close as well.
Say what you want Tendulkar was the man ... average will speak for itself. 18 years without dropping below 50 tells you something. In recent years he hasn't been as productive as he once was. But to say he wasn't as great as the media make out, I disagree. Guy was class. End of.

India has never won a series in SA (I think they are just too spoilt with their own bat friendly pitches) and it doesn't look like they'll do anytime soon. We are developing nicely and I can see us remain a force post-Kallis and co. even in the smaller formats... 20/20 is a bit pointless though.
