Pretty sure Ireland hasn't contained us in a long time, and we are the best attacking team in the world by far (look at any tournament, anytime, anywhere ).

Definitely not good at winning world cups, but other cups (think Bledisloe and trinations) we do alright in.

JW is right. The key is for the Irish forwards to win the collision and breakdown contests, disrupt and annoy the hell out of genia. When quade doesnt get quick front foot ball he sits deeper and has less of an impact in attack. The game in Auckland this year was a perfect example.
Im expecting the irish to come back hard at australia despite all the negative commentry from the irish camp. Who knows maybe theyre talking themselves down to lull the aussies into complacency which has been a issue for them for a few years now.

Every 2nd comment seems to be: "oh look at those bitter aussies". (and most don't of these comments don't even seem to be from Irish people)

All i've seen is reasonable feedback from the game and credit where it is due for Ireland. Maybe some people wish we were more bitter?

Weren't you the person who was saying before the match "no worries McCalman will step up" then afterwards "well we were missing Pocock".


Also people don't worry about Healy he wears contacts and they have a habit of coming out thats why he receives so much attention.

No, and comments like this are precisely what gets me thinking people actually want us to be bitter about the loss. They will go as far as making up quotes just to push argument.

Seriously, I've seen fans react bitter on this forum before. (usually close club games) And the reaction from people in this thread simply doesn't even compare.

It does get to the point that a thread just needs to be left alone. There's no point talking about bitterness and sore winners and that sort of thing but if a thread goes on long enough people will start finding comments and taking them the wrong way.

I think this thread has come to that point.

I agree with TNT. People are generally being quite level headed about this 1. It does seem like some posters want an Aussie to say something rash so they can attack but I don't think I've seen any. I've only seen 2 silly French posters (Bail and Rhyer) who were saying silly things.

No way. That overweight dude on Kepu's side stuck his head straight into the ground 2 scrums in a row and got the bloody penalty. And it happened multiple times.

However. Obviously your a scrummaging expert. Mike Ross or "that overweight dude" (it shows arrogance when you don't even know his name) was playing tighthead. Did you know that the tighthead pretty much pushes his weight onto the loosehead driving diagonally down. While the loosehead drives up therefore 99% of the time if it goes down that side it's the looseheads fault.

Yea sorry, i'll retract that if you want. I was drunk and annoyed at the scrum penalties.

Nothing bitter though, i congratulated Ireland from the outset. Not everything i've said is praising Ireland's tactics, but that isn't bitterness, it's just normal commenting on a game.

Anyway... If that is the worst example to be found after 50 pages of this thread I think the behavior was probably pretty decent.

Bah, the only analysis you can take from the scrum is:

- Australian feed, most of all were won quite good, with a steady scrum, except from that one when Genia and Samo were put under pressure and ball subsquently turned over.

- Irish feed, 3 times after the put-in, they won it and they immediatly collapsed. 2 times were fine for BL, 1 time Aus has been penalised. I have a suspect on this behaviour, it always comes when your scrum.......

- One penalty went against Alexander who put the arm on the ground because Healy was bringing HIM to the ground, naive, but it deserved a reset


For what it counts, this is also what my scrum coach and 2 of my team's elder prop said. And I won't report you their thought on Healy and Ross.

I'm skeptical about Irish front row dominance, and I think we'll see on october 2nd what's gonna happen there.

But apart from that, Australia were lifeless, soulless, without any idea on what to do with the ball, without impact and aggression.
Ireland fully deserved this match! They were steady in mind and body!

it has been interesting reading back @ previous threads the last 2days & while i for one doubted weather we could stand toe 2 toe with them but we were actually in there eyeballs & they didnt like it 1 bit! u can blame this blame that but the thruth is we stuffed them in all the areas we needed 2 to 2 get that seismic result!! there's a shipment of humble pie heading ur way..eat up & ull all be better for it!! iv no doubts aus will hit back like only they know how & they will always be more sucessfull than us so 1 defeat on the big stage aint gonna kill ye!!

Ireland held their own with Italy in 6n and Healy did queit well against Castro when playing Leicster. I know a lot of people don't rate Healy as a scrummager these people obviously haven't paid attention in the past year. However you cannot slight Ross at all he is technially an excellent scrummager. Finally you'd think your scrum coach would know that if Australa lose the hit they go down immeidiately I'm not slagging them itr's smart and they've got away with it for 4 yrs but it is common knowledge.

No it doesn't. It could be perceived as ignorance, but even that would be pushing it.
Not everyone can be expected to know the names of every player in every squad.
I have no idea what the Romanian tighthead's name is - am I arrogant too?

Great win for us and I thought the passion and commitment shown was far greater and more important than any players individual performance. I thought the pack was absolutely stunning however the back's especially the back three have more to give in attack (although the tactic used by Ireland was not really made to incorporated the back three that much)
