Woosaahs Raggasmic 08 Editor

You need to select the rugby.exe from the folder where you installed the game (usually C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Rugby 2008, but you know best which it is.

thanks for the reply bud

Yeh Ill reinstall it in the next 1 or 2 days when I have a sec...the ONLY other thing I can think of is whenever I reinstall it and I need to "choose a Rugby.exe to save default roster files" or something, I can never do that and just click cancel. In the past the editor has always worked fine but maybe this newest one needs me to do that? I can never find anything to select, like I went to my roster file and ther was nothing to select or anything.

Um yeh the roster is so-so atm, if I change someones skin colour it changes everyone to that colour on the editor, but in game only 1 or 2 players are affected...odd.

So yeh Ill reinstall it as c:/rugby editor or somthin like that, and if you can help me with selecting a rugby.exe or whatever it is Ill do that when I reinstall it and see if that fixes it

if that all fails ill try upload my roster and u can take a look at it. Also I checked the properties of the folder, ther was nothing about security...just that the Read-Only tab was highlighted. Do I need to take that off?

So yeh thx for the reply, Ill reinstall and do a few things and get back to u in a couple of days

That would indeed be your problem. You can find the exe location by right clicking on your desktop shortcut, selecting properties and looking in the target box.

yep thats it :) it doesnt know where to get the pictures from. any reason why you dont chose the rugby.exe?

kk, got the Exe, all good. dont get that error anymore when I select rosters or anything

I got one "Path is not legal" error when I tried to edit someone. Closed the editor, opened a clear roster (I have one roster that is default), then re-opened my roster and tryed to edit the guy again - this time no error it worked fine. So yeh that Path is not legal error was hopefully a once off random thing

but yeh its working fine, it seems, otherwise

Thanks heaps - lets hope that random path is not legal doesnt pop up again :p

keep up the good work Woosah

EDIT: Got an erorr whilst changing a team roster (team edit) : Index is out of the array. Quit editor, came back, can edit without the erorr again. odd, but yeh dw editor is working fine minus one or two weird erorrs which I can bypass by restarting the editor

bugger
just updated my sharks and cheetahs squads for the S14
start up a play now
loads up fine, but as soon as I press S or whatever to get it from the pre-game animations to kickoff it crashes to desktop.

I think my roster must be buggered...which is a serious pain :/

Anyone up for a S14 roster so i dont hav to start from scratch? :p

If you post it here I can try and fix it but no guarentees...
[/b]

sure

Which website do i use to upload it, or whats your email and i can email it to you?

I have a saved backup, but since that Iv redone about 3 teams rosters and its probly like 4 hours of hard rostering behind

Hmm, I don't think it's the roster as it works fine for me. Try moving all patch files from your root directory and starting the game again.
If it still doesn't work I can restore the default rosters for those two teams for you and see if that makes a difference.

Ok, scratch that previous reply. I managed to get the error!
Here is the roster with the two squads set back to the default but all other changes left unharmed.

thanks bud, i think the erorr was with the Sharks...did u manage to find out exactly what was wrong or with which player? I think editing some players faces causes a CTD issue (its happened to me before) so ill just make a backup once iv done the cheetahs before I start the sharks

once again thanx

did u clear any players or just set the two teams to default?

It's because the new team editor modifies these bytes for some teams when you save them even if you don't modify anything:

89-90 Nothing
91-92 Performance
93-96 Nothing
97-98 Home Stadium ID
99-104 Nothing

[/b]but it does it the wrong way.

These teams are always assigned the Australia Stadium are home stadium in-game because the Home Stadium ID is ruined and the game selects the first absolute stadium ID (which is Australia Stadium), their Performance is set to 0 in the editor, and consequently the other bytes I said are ruined too.

Don't know why, but when these teams play away, the game crashes immediately before the kickoff, while when they play at home it doesn't happen at all, so very very probably the bytes 93 to 96 are important for when the team plays away

It's not a problem in my roster, I made a lot of tries, so I'm sure it's the editor and it's about the team bytes I said

I'd like that it would be clear that this is a major problem, not a classic mania of mine :p

I mean, I don't care about the Home Stadium ID or the Performance, this is minor, the real problem is that the teams crash when playing away, and not only for me ;)

It seemed to be to do with the player who was set to be kicking off but the fix I tried didn't work that well so I just restored the original squad. All the players you've made are there, you just need to add them into the squad again.

@ ciais - I haven't looked at those bytes in any detail but I'm sure that's where kick-off taker is stored too. I'll work out the whole string later and compare it to the default one and we can hopefully figure out what needs fixing exactly in the editor.

Colin, it has nothing to do with the kickoff taker, the kickoff taker is bytes 77-78

If it was the kickoff taker, it would crash away AND home, but it crashes only away

I spent all day doing tests, and I'm 100% sure I'm right about those bytes

In my roster, Romania crashed away before the kickoff. I noticed the bytes I said were different from the default ones, so I edited them back to default and Romania doesn't crash away anymore

Trust me for once :(

Like I said, I haven't looked in any detail and I also used the word seemed. I'm perfectly happy to go with what you've said on this but I'm still going to try it out myself anyway :p

Of course, it's better this way :)
[/b]

gah just did some more editing

Lions v Cheetahs (made the game in England so both teams were away) = CTD between the pre-game animations and kickoff

Cias - how can one set the bytes to default so this doesnt happen? Its super 14 season and I cant even play the game :( :( :( hehe

BTW - thx Wilko for that. done all my rosters now, seems the Bytes are the issue when I read what you and Cias have just said

You have to use 2 programs, 1 for see the files differences and 1 for hex-editing. Wilko here surely does know a program which does both, but I don't :D

I use AptDiff for the differences and XVI32 for hex-editing

You simply see the differences in the bytes of the 2 rosters (yours and the default), and with the hex-editor you edit your roster

I know, I didn't explain anything, but now I have to go do something and really don't have much time

Monatu, away means NOT playing in another stadium, means playing being the second team, e.g. Lions vs Cheetahs, even if you play at Cheetahs' home stadium, I didn't explain myself better earlier ;)

Hackman has a compare function. I'm off out now but will definitely look at this later.
