What are you listening to?

I apologise for the double post, but it only allows one video per post.
As Iain mentioned metalcore: I'm not really a fan of metalcore/Killswitch Engage, but their new single is qualityyyyyy:

Guitar rif, good. Drum beat, good. "Singer" opens his gob, oh dear

This is better than that

Urgh - Can't stand Fozzy.
Y2J can't sing to save his life - ruins the music (which is otherwise pretty solid). Seeing them at Bloodstock this year aswell - mainly because, hell, it's Y2J Chris fupping Jericho!

How about Alter Bridge, probably my favourite band of all time (apart from Machine Head):

Melodic death metal is where its at ;)
In Flames are the ***s

Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk 2

*smacks Olyy around the back of the head* In Flames suck and have been progressively doing this since 1995. Please listen to more of the early Gothenburg albums and Insomnium. Have heard Omnium Gatherum mentioned. And Amon Amarth. Always listen to Amon Amarth. Early Amorphis is pretty cool if a bit different though. Basically, anything but in Flames. Have some Insomnium. Genuinely the best thing around in Melodic Death terms today.

p.s. My NWoBHM fact is I used to be taught fencing with a guy who'd fenced with Bruce Dickinson. I think I've lost this one.

p.p.s. Getting to be a musical elitist again for a moment has left me happier than a pig in the outpourings of the Beeb's commentary team.

Sorry, I am going to have to double post here as I did also enjoy cmac's old man stylings and wanted to share something along those lines, albeit something probably fairly well known (or it should be...)

Pfft, In Flames are great. I know a lot of snobs :)p) don't like them, but oh well!

Big fan of Cthonic at the moment - saw them at Bloodstock last year. Taiwanese death metal band and their bassist is easy on the eyes:

Yes Olyy, but you like metalcore. Next you'll be telling me you like Metallica post-black album. I'm afraid to say you don't get an opinion ;) Seriously though, if you haven't heard some of the people I just said there, check them out, fair chance you'll love them.

This Chthonic stuff ain't bad, but does feel a bit by the numbers. Not sure I'd bother to remember it, although I suspect I will as my future wife plays in the band.

Think I might go on an old school underground kick for a few days now...

St. Anger is a God damn masterpiece, y'hear!
I've got a couple of Amon Amarth albums, and a few Insomnium tracks - not heard of Omnium Gatherum though, will check 'em out.

Death Metal is what teenagers and students listen to. Heavy Metal is where it's at - Iron Maiden, Black Sabbeth, Judas Priest, Motorhead etc.

Why is it called Metal? Because it's harder then Rock!

And on a lighter note: #NP The Who - Behind Blue Eyes

:roflrol::roflrol::roflrol:

I remember when I was a big metal fan.
Amon Amarth were/are awesome. I don't listen to metal much these days, but I can't resist putting on Twilight of the Thunder God every once in a while.
I really had a thing for Viking Metal, that **** is the best.

Haha same. Used to be dead into metal (but not into death metal!), now I just occasionally go "OH I MUST LISTEN TO X AGAIN". Except it's usually someone like Opeth or SikTh.

"The Algorithm" is as close as I get to listening to metal regularly these days.

Draggs is now my favourite Welsh poster.

I wasn't before? :(

I always enjoyed putting Meshuggah on just to see people's reactions, signing along to the interesting lyrics.
Never had the hair to pull off this, which did sadden me somewhat:

Anybody remember Lordi?
Best Eurovision song ever.

Good music, great videos.

Thanks everybody, you've got me bringing out the old metal albums.

I didn't have one - you were all the same to me!

And I did have the hair... good days man... good days... then I cut it off to play with guns at the Government's expense.

Anyway, time to ramp up the metal ridiculousness

Tyrants is the best Immortal song, imo. My fave anyway, probably because it's the first I heard of theirs.

Saw Watain at Bloodstock, they put on a hell of a show. Here's their set (all of bloodstock main stage was streamed live, so is on youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeTeNNSq2fw would've been better in the dark, but still good.
Apparently were proper see-you-next-tuesdays off stage though.
It's only a small festival so all bands share a pre-set dressing room, and they covered it in fake blood, ****** and **** in it and puked in the middle of the floor.
They stayed in a hotel, and some of the members broke into some random families room, and one of their roadies had to beat the crap out of them and drag them out of the room, and beg the family not to phone the police.
((all "allegedly", but well known))

Hah, I demand pics of it in all it's glory!

Always liked the intro to this:

Animals as Leaders were another of mine; elevator metal!
