What are you listening to?

This:

Probably the best album ever made. You could argue that it's go no stand out songs on it, but it flows together seamlessly.

I need to get angry to do something with today. Therefore, I am listening to

Thats a tune.

Seeing as I have nothing to do since I lost my job Tuesday, I'm watching the Cricket and chilling to some Bob Marley and assorted reggae/soca tunes

While watching eurovision my house mates and I decided to look up Metal cover versions of ABBA songs. So I have been listening to lots of Cheesy Metal!!!

Also I have been watching a lovely tutorial video by infamous 80's/90's C!!k rock vocalist, Jim Gillette!

I'm training so I can do this "seriously"

(For the record I can already do it "Jokingly" but I wanna do it full voice in order to blow heads like in Pick of Destiny :p)

Eurovision is a crap as always.
That Turkish song made me want to kick the screen in.
Nothing will ever beat Lordi.

Now listening to the complete works of Shostakovich and Rotropovich.
Followed later this month by Bach, Beethoven and Richter.

Then I have had enough classical music for the summer :)

As opposite as you can get I'm listening to DragonForce, nice to hear a speed metal band who dont do that awful screaming/throat clearing.

Thousand Foot Krutch. This is one I don't get, according to the Fountain of Knowlege (TM) that is Wikipedia they are a "Canadian Christian Rock Band" normally I'm a very ignorant atheist so normally I laugh at this notion but then I heard this;

and this

I don't get it.

I've had Thousand Foot Krutch in my collection for a few years, good band. The Christian lyrics are quite prominent in many of their songs. I don't think the two songs you linked are un-christian. Th second in particular is just about them rocking, with "smack down" being used in a 'we're going to smash this gig' kinda way, and not in a violent way.

I've been listening to a lot of Our Lady Peace again recently. They're probably my favourite band. Some aren't a fan of their newer stuff, but I still like it despite being a little more poppy than their older stuff. Not quite warmed to their newest album 'Curve', maybe in a few more listens.

.

Thats sort of my point, I'm not religious in any way, shape or form and can easily tell the songs that have the religious undertones. Plus I heard War of Change from WWE so make of that what you will

Well they haven't / won't convert me

Nope, me neither. But they're not trying to either. In a similar way to Creed or P.O.D, they're just a rock band like any other, only difference being that they don't swear or sing about violence. It's not something you instantly notice with any of these Christian rock bands, unless you listen closely to all their lyrics or look on wiki.

True, it's actually refreshing to have that in music without having to resort to crappy pop

Rise Against's acoustic version of "Swing Life Away" is pretty awesome

Yeah, agree. It does make you think why most bands feel the need to swear and the like. I'm not against swearing, and am guilty of it quite a lot myself, but as I grow older I start to feel that swearing is becoming more and more prevalent, and is simply being accepted. I was watching CBBC the other day with my g/f's nieces and nephews, and OMG was used quite regularly in one show. This annoyed me for two reasons, I hate people using text speak when they're actually talking (people actually say 'lol' instead of well laughing!) and I don't want children's tv to promote that as ok and cool. Secondly, OMG stand's for Oh My God, which whilst not a bad swear word is technically 'taking god's name in vain', not that I believe in that, but I've always been brought up that it's not something I should use around my grandparents for instance, and many religious people especially would find it slightly offensive.

Anyway, rant over. Bloody hell, I must be getting old if I'm complaining about the use of such a phrase. Yes I realise the irony in my rant about swearing containing a swear word.

You should come over here mate, casual cursing is the norm in Irish society. Seriously, cursing in every sentance wouldn't be considered that odd.

I tend to sing when I'm drunk, horrible, horrible songs...

Reef - Glow.

Muse - Showbiz. Still my favourite Muse album ever.

Edit. Just started my first listen to the new Linkin Park album 'Living Things'.

I like Linkin Park's older music (new music is good too) but my favorites are still the good oldies: Faint, Numb, Crawling, In The End, One Step Closer

You can never have enough classical.

Mike Oldfield and Aphex Twin lately, with other random artists interspersed.

I've listened to it. It's worse than Thousand Suns. It's just not the LP that I love. I appreciate they want to try different sounds and whatever but if you told someone to sit down and listen to Meteora (their best imo) and this one without telling them they are the same band they wouldn't know they were by the same people
