Warm Up Match 3: Crusaders v British & Irish Lions (Christchurch)

Farrell's also been playing 13

Faz has looked class.
He's a quality player and no mistake.
Sexton has come on and looked worlds better than the previous efforts on the tour.
It's still early days and plenty of games to go and thre Lions are learning to play together.
Their forwards have been excellent at the set piece tonight.
Now despite fluffed opportunities they need to make sure of the win.

Im going to go as far as saying that was relatively comfortable, due to the excellent defence, stamina and strong set piece. A move in the right direction again, still plenty to do before the test, but I'm pleased considering the lions were written off.

Not pretty but a win is a win.
How many chances for 5 were squandered

Lions won this with their defence.
Crusaders were never given a sniff
Murray was man of the match

Definite improvement there, though need to keep that momentum up and build on it for the bext game. The pitch and ball were both very greasy and I felt Lions just lacked that slight precision to convert some of those opportunities. Kicking is still a concern for me, against the AB's some of those kicks would have been punished more I feel. Need to constantly be challenging them.

Inb4 New Zealand journalists call us negative and try to make excuses.

They need to build on that performance for the most part it was the type of rugby they need to play, wings and outside centre needs to change to players who can catch and pass.

Tour on!

I'm now more excited for the tests. Lions were the better team at the end of the day. Strong forward play and good kicking.

Crusaders luck has finally caught up with them. Can't say I feel too bad for them since I'm a Highlanders fan.
