Wales v England

Think Wales will be worthy winners in their game against France aswell!
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO IT!

First things first, well played England, much improved performance.

But christ, from my seat in the pub (after a few pints I might add), I thought Caplan wasn't even trying to ref ruck time, England were coming in off their feet, diving over the ball and preventing ball coming back Wales' way on numerous occasions. I'm sorry if it was the booze infected one sidedness from me, but I thought he was hugel;y biased towards England in the second half. Wales were basically getting pinged all the time for not releasing, even though England players weren't standing on their feet!

I thought Wales thoroughly deserved the win, was closer than it should have been in the end, but it's always good to be tested, we would have lost that game a few year ago, nice to see we have what it takes to close out a game.[/b]

penalty count and card count tell another story though. No doubt Wales deserved the win, didn't have to do much in the first half bar taking some big hits but the second half was a much improved performance.

If Wales and France play like they did today then there'll be clear daylight between the sides.

Is it only Scots, Welsh, French and Kiwis who complain about refs?

I'd criticise Kaplan for not yellowing Byrne (on Armitage) and maybe Ryan Jones (not rolling away). But he kept the game going.

How could Burne be yellowed? He didn't try and take Armitage out in the air, if you watched the replay he was attempting to get out the way. To begin with I thought he could be given a yellow, but from the replay it was obvious it wan't intentional. The penalty was easiyl enough!

Today some of the French referee also played on our nerves with his stupid decisions :devban: :devban: :devban: :devban: :devban:

What a great game. England proved that they're no mugs, but at the same time I think people wrote them off far to easily. This game was always going to be close. England have some fantastic talent and I think once their coaching set up comes into their own they will very dangerous again. Its just a matter of time.

On the flip side of that, I think some credit should go to Wales for pressuring England into poor discipline. They had to much out wide for them, as seems to be the difference against alot of sides, and I think our front 5 can now challenge anyone.

Wales should not be thinking GS yet. A win in France then maybe we can. I think we can realistically say we are in the run for the championship regardless of the Paris result now.

My feelings about the game today are Wales are not as good as evryone made out and England are better than everyone made out. The difference was confidence and discipline shown by the Welsh was superior to our guys. Not surprising really. Anyone doubting Worsleys MOTM award can only be biased or stupid, he eclipsed the entire Welsh back-row with his power and sheer dog in the tackle. Where was Powell(brought off, thats where). Flutey has put his hand up for the lions as has Vickery after dominating at scrum-time. Wales generally controlled the ball after half time and the game slipped away from us but I feel we are now building something and better times are ahead. Flood has proven he is not up to test level as his introduction made Goode look competant.

Yes, you are exactly right ...

Byrne is building a reputation for dirty play. And that's due in no small part to Prestwick's campaign for the restoration of honour to the field of play (English front row excluded because they're "absolute pants" and could get hurt if they don't cheat).

 We can all take a deep sigh of relief knowing that you aren't coaching the Lions.

Oh dear God ... Vickery was crap dunno how many times Kaplan spoke to BOTH VICKERY and SHERIDAN, for failing to hold themselves in the scrum, dunno how you can even say that!

think you might find that Adam Jones and Gethin Jenkins were in a class above the England props, their work rate round the field and their scrummaging was awesome!!!

and yes Flutey played a stormer!

Yes Powell didn't have a sormer, but he still had a very good game imo. He must of been neer the top of the list for carries, fine he didn't break half the tackles like he has been doing, but that's down to great English defence! I don't remember him loosing the ball once either. Vickery was avarage at best, scrums seemed to go Wales' way, and I didn't see him in the loose half as muc as Gethin or Adam Jones. I have to agree, Flutey was good today, I was commending his play to my mates in the pub, he always tried things, and generally got past the first defender. Worseley was deserved motm, proved alot of people, including myself wrong, great performance, especially in defense.

I think England weren't as bad as people were making out, as a couple of us Welsh posters were saying, we weren't going to thump England, as they're too good and too proud for that. But I think Wales showed the other side of themselves today, proving they can win when they're under the cosh. I'm happy with the result, for both Wales and England, I want to see England return to the side they should be, international rugby needs them. I'm looking forward to the France match, as they didn't look all that today, and it should be a great encounter.

I will see whether I can get the stats like last year :)[/b]

Nice

Could you try and find Adam Jones and Gethin Jenkins tackle count between them? They were simply immense! I was quite shocked to find out that Gethin Jenkins was not awarded MOTM he was simply awesome!

Gough as well, didn't he put in a lot of good tackles? But Worzle would be the most interesting.
