Wales' players could earn a £28,000-per-man cash bonus if the national side produces a clean sweep in the autumn international Test series.

Laughing all the way to the bank...

Not actually sure, may include South Africa and the All Blacks although I think South Africa are already going to play Ireland, Italy, France, Saracens and Leicester? On that thought I think its going to be Australia and the All Blacks?

That's like saying, if you manage to survive on the Sun's surface, I'll give you the earth.

At the end of the day its all about:

BWAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAA!

Yeh, clever plan.
A £28,000 raise causing the players to play the game of their collective lives... The SANZAR sides have no chance... Not in the face of money...

No, don't be silly. None of our South Africans could ever hope to play for South Africa!!!

Well considering they're already being paid and seeing as they're representing their country you'd think they'd be giv ing it everything regardless.

and not much? 28k for each of lets say 25 players. That's the WRU paying out 700k.

And how much revenue does it generate for the RFU?

28K is just above the UK average wage. As a bonus that looks a bargain for something Wales have never achieved in their national sport.

Not saying rugby should go soccerooo, but after all the passion you only get what you pay for.

I don't think the point is about the monetary value but about the value about playing for the jersey.

This ain't economics. No blank & white, only grey and confused areas which defy textbooks and financial blogs/formulas.

Mmm ...

I reckon the figure is reasonable, factoring in the boost to revenues.

Really **** for players if they had to go back to the Old Farts working-on-the-chain-gang (genuine Welsh people with man breasts) scam.

Advertising revenue will say it all. And I guess that's not looking good.

Of course the figures are reasonable. The figures the french clubs were offering the likes of John Smit and co before the Lions tour were more than reasonable, they were increible in their opulence. But Smit and co turned them down because firstly they wanted to play for the Springbok jersey and secondly because they wanted to play against the Lions and do South Africa proud.

See New Zealand as an example with McAlister and Chris Jack. The former came for money, the latter for a better life but both came home because the draw of the jersey was too great.

I don't see any problems with this. It's just a little extra reward if they manage to do something special. I know playing for Wales should be all the motivation needed, but if they do beat the all blacks etc. the WRU are in line to make money (selling more tickets as shtove pointed out), why not pass a little of that on to the players. I think the draw to play for Wales is as big as ever, the news in the papers over the last few weeks of the likes of Mike Phillips, Gethin Jenkins, Lee Burne etc. turning down million pound offers to move to France, SA etc. because it would harm their international careers shows this.

Still, it's not going to happen isn't it!

The All Blacks, Samoa, Austraillia and Argentina. I don't see them getting that said bonus, to be honest. Would be ncie if they did, though.

Oh yeah, and don't you think halfpenny looks smaller than normal in the picture?

The collapse in the £ had nothing to do with it? (More to come, BTW)

Our players and their union have always had a great interest in what they are earning. I remember in the late 90s when the useless ******** went on strike, even though they were losing to everyone apart from Namibia's Female Blind Peg-legged Sevenths.

If we had a full squad to choose from then I'd really fancy winning all four. As it is, with both props out and potentially no Martyn Williams I think the best we can hope for is wins against Samoa and the Argies and a scraped victory over the convicts. I'd take that. :)
