TRF's UEFA Euro 2016

Hoping nothing goes down on Thursday in Lens! Welsh fans have been excellent so far apparently, but heard enough stories of some of the Wales Away lot to know there's a very small minority who may kick off if things get heated.

I always feel that the English fans are in a bit of a no win situation. I'm not saying that they are all angels, but with the media and their reputation it sounds like they have been targeted somewhat out in France. I just heard that the Russian fans will be somewhere nearby for a game on Thursday. I'm hoping all goes smoothly on Thursday.

Great win for Wales, hope they can take that confidence going into a tough game on Thursday.

Can't see it really kicking off between the English and welsh TBH, alot of drinking from both sides, and a lot of offensive chants towards both sides, maybe the odd patch of fighting.

But no different from being in Cardiff ;), IMO.

Could be an issue with Locals and Ultras though.

Ha true I guess! From what my mates have told me from his away trips, the worst lot are usually having a pop at each other rather than the opposition - Cardiff vs Swansea essentially.

Lens is tiny so hopefully there won't be too many worries about local Ultras.

Russia are in Lille the night before I think, where the French authorities are telling ticketless Welsh and English fans to go to watch the match. That's potentially a bad situation in the making if the Russians decide to charge at the English again.

Ze Germans better win here. Have 'em as part of a double with a GAA match that has come through. Double my 8 quid you beautiful ,efficient ********.

21 English arrested yesterday for violence and no Russians... Are they smarter or just not have a colour on that insults French police?

Better organisation I think BBC are reporting French prosecutors are saying 150 Russians were behind it but barely any have been arrested.

All this is just reaffirming why I've totally gone off Football.

A lot smarter.

Brits get drunk and therefore confront police (tards)
Russian will have vans and cars (which they hired in Switzerland)to pick them up when police come and will move onto another area.

Russian ultras are like the most hardcore (along with a couple other Eastern Europe lot) they train for this sort of stuff, Brits are just loud mouth drunks with a superiority complex.

Yeah, I could imagine being disillusioned with it if I was English. Irish and Swedish fans were having a singalong in Paris last night though so it's not that relatable.

That's a ridiculous level of commitment to achieve literally nothing!

I think it boild down to several things for me.

1) I dislike all the playacting and yelling at the ref.

2) I grew up with the Golden Generation/Class of '92 which utterly failed internationally to live to their poetential....those sides should of made at least a semi-final post'96 at a major tournament. I'm now disillusioned to us actually doing well and hype that goes with it.

3) I came to realisation last world cup I don't actually like the sport itself that much. Ice Hockey is far better fast paced hell to leather game of skill. Rugby Union has way more power and passion. Cricket is a greater tactical game.

4) The fans are probably the last reason but the culture never appeals even before you get to hooliganism.

This all said I'll probably watch the England V Wales game just because and if England get further in the tournament. However I had a much more enjoyable Saturday evening watching F1 Qualifying and Supernatural with the wife than I probably would have watching the Football at home or down the pub.

Cruz_del_Sur were not part of Euro its the EU were considering leaving.

It's France's way of preventing the UK from leaving the Euro.

If ever there was a country to want the Uk to leave the EU it would be France.

Yep it is Ross Kemp had a interesting doc on the polish Ultras.

I just like sports TBH. It's not my favourite sport, but i enjoy it.

Ice hockey was up there but recent years has been getting poorer IMO, (Doesn't help being a Leafs fan :( )

The best atmosphere i have experienced in a sporting stadium was a football game.

Penguins fans so I am relatively happy. My best mate is from Toronto (well actually he's from England but he grew up there) so I understand the pain of Leafs fans, if you don't watch it already look up Leaf's Fan Reaction by Steve Dangle guy does analysis and reviews ina comedic style on every Leaf's match. He's pretty much forged a career with top broadcasters from it.
The only issue with NHL is its on some ridiculous premium channel in this country so I barely watch it anymore.

In general I fall under the 'casual sports fan' category I'll watch if I'm at home or its a big event but in general its not my biggest hobby by any stretch. But Football is fast becoming like Basketball for me as sport I simply don't get.

Case in point I'm going to miss this weekend England rugby game due to other commitments and whilst I'm a little annoyed I'll live as I get to spend time with people I rarely see these days.

Report to NHL thread immediately for celebrations.
