TRF's UEFA Euro 2016

of course switzerland had to play on the rugby day... no idea they had already played but they're looking good
a point against romania should put us through

So apparently a group of Russian ultras tried to start a fight with English and Welsh fans in Lille this evening. Only a small amount of retaliation, few reports of English fans chucking chairs but nothing that bad.

However, possibly the best chant of the Euro's so far came out of the stand off: "F**k off Russia, we're England and Wales" Fair play lads!

Saw that, nice to see, hopefully it stays that way. Minus the Russian *insert expletive of choice here* of course

i'm assuming you folks saw the videos of the irish and swedish fans dancing and singing abba together after the game... nice to see that there are some people who know that watching sports should be a party, especially the euros, it's a destination vacation you should be having a great time meeting new people

The majority of fans are fine and a good craic TBF, There has been issues of some kind in every Euro competition, be it Russian, English, German, Belgium, French, Ukrainians, Polish etc etc, and IMO will never be fully stamped out mainly due to the sense of tribalism a minority of supporters will (and prob always have) have.

Its only the Russians, and by proxy the English that have made headlines. We saw Poles and Northern Irish singing and dancing to Will Griggs on Fire, and that nice picture of them supporting a Pole who was in hospital following a minor clash.

Sadly there are always going to be a minority who will spoil it but so far the scenes in Marseille last weekend are the only major blot on things. Im hoping the sanction hanging over Russia will calm things down, though I fear it won't.

Russians won't care IMO they are already out and didn't come for the football. Have you seen the comments from Russian police and MP's?

Yeah, no doubt. If the Russian political bigwigs are celebrating violence, just imagine what happens when the security of 2018 is left with these guys? If there were to be a repeat of these events in Russia, I'm like 80% sure there will be deaths, or fans from other countries held in jail against violence they didn't commit.

And we haven't even mention Russian fans history of racial abuse towards black players. In 2016. Sigh.

Anyway, good job Iceland!

Anyone fancy going to the 2018 World Cup?
At least they had the sense not to invade the country during the Winter for the third time.
Almost wish they'd not banned a rake of English hooligans so the filthy pond scum could at least just organise to knock the **** out of each other like football hooliganism used to be like.
And honestly the Russian officials taking pride in their inbred laughing stock of an 'ultra' fanbase putting on their little Krav Maga gloves and taking their tops off to chase a bunch of other men around a stadium in a game of tough love kiss chase. I've never seen fans from a hugely homophobic nation so eager to get their tops off for a round of semi-nude wrestling.
I mean obviously some English fans over there are scum looking for a fight too, but to say it's a 50/50 blame game would be dishonest. English fans were targeted because of the outdated notion they still have a strong and organised hooligan culture, which really isn't the case on a national scale for a good while now mainly because most of the character from the 'glory age of English hooliganism' need a walker to go collect their dole. The fact that a character played by Elijah Wood of all people managed to survive until the end of a film about a West Ham firm should tell you all you need to know about the decline in 'ooliganism.
Don't think we've had the end of it anyway.

What strikes me most is their level of violence and ruthlessness. Besides attacking fans who clearly do not want to fight, there always seem to be 10 people stomping on and kicking heads of those already gone done.
I am 100% convinced, they even try to kill their opponents. You can't kick someone into mush that way without considering that human being might die.

Collymore on Twitter just broadcasting it kick off.

Would not want to be there tonight apprently he saw a firm in a cafe preparing for it.
At least the police seem more active now.

Kicking off in Lillie now. Have to say it is a place i wouldn't mind going to one day looking at the news seems a nice town (Obvs not when a footie match is playing though).

Does make you appropriate the British police at being able to handle these things.

French riot police have gone from one end of the spectrum to the other.
